The Anon M4 is the latest in an incredible ski and snowboarding goggles line. Sunglass Rob talks with Burton’s Mark Wakeling for all the details on this revolutionary frame.
Anon’s Magna-Tech just got better. More magnets within the frame provide a seamless yet effective lens interchange system for quicker, reliable adjustments on the go.
All Anon snow goggles come with two lenses, so you can stay on the slopes even if lighting conditions change.
What makes the M4 special is the frame redesign. Most snow goggles hold one type of lens either cylindrical or spherical. The M4 can hold two: cylindrical, and their new toric lens.
A toric lens utilizes two different curvatures to offer more peripheral vision because the lens is closure to the face.
When purchasing an Anon M4, you will get either two cylindrical lenses or two toric lenses, not a mix of both. However, you can purchase additional lenses separately.
We love the M4 because it houses prescription lens inserts so well. Other goggles require removing the insert before replacing the lens. The M4’s design holds the insert securely without falling out through lens changes.
Anon’s Sonar lens technology is the highest premium contrast lens on the market specifically designed for snow.
The M4 is a dual-density frame. A stiffer outer frame allows for easy adjustment while a more flexible inner frame conforms to the user’s face shape. Coupled with triple-layer foam with moisture wicking, the M4 is made for all-day wear.
Anon has pioneered a unique balaclava integration system for some of the snow goggles. The M4 features a mag-balaclava for easy wear and adjustment.
The last detail we want to mention is the anti-fog design throughout the M4. Yes, there’s the Anon premium anti-fog coating, but the M4 frame itself features an incredible venting rig that maximizes light blockage and airflow.

Have the M2 and just love it. The MagnaTech and MFI are game changers! As you guys mentioned. Changing the lens during a run or in the chair, when conditions are changing, throughout the day with ease (even with gloves) makes such a big difference. Will never buy anything else, than Anon. Thanks for that great piece of engineering.

Anon's Sonar lenses are one of the top tier color enhancing lens technology on the market. When compared to Oakley's Prizm they are neck and neck. The Sonar lenses provide amazing contrast while making it easier to spot terrain on the mountain. It comes down to your preference on the goggles style, fit, and comfort. But you can't go wrong with Sonar or Prizm goggles.

Is the anon m4 better option than the Oakley airbrake xl .The magnet system change looks a lot better,than the airbrake xl. I have got Oakley flight deck xl in prizm, at mo.Would you recommend these Google’s over smiths Oakley for ease of use .how does prizm compare to anon lens.

Hi Ben! The Magna-Tech quick lens change technology in the M4 is much easier and faster to do, which may be a better option for you. Both brands have great lenses and features. You can see what each offers and compare them through this blog: www.sportrx.com/blog/snow-goggle-lens-tech/. Thanks for reaching out!

There are like 20 different lenses, how do you know which variant to buy? :S Also, he talks about the spare lense as if it's a non-identical one for different conditions, but nowhere does the specs say what kind of conditions the spare is for. Like is it identical or is it for different conditions, and in that case is it not one of the other lenses you can buy? I'm currently considering the Sonar Green, but I really don't wanna be looking at green snow. How much do the lense colors actually affect your vision? I have some goggles already that are blue tinted, and after 30 seconds my brain adjusts and the snow is white again.

Hello! We have a snow goggle lens color guide that may help answer some of your questions: www.sportrx.com/blog/ski-goggle-lens-color-guide/ Snow goggles that come with two sets of lenses typically include one bright light or everyday lens and one low light lens. The Sonar Green has a VLT of 23% which makes it a lens that will get you by in a variety of conditions (sunny or cloudy) This lens may be paired with the Sonar Blue which has a VLT of 46%. A higher VLT means more light is coming through the lens which makes Sonar Blue more preferable on overcast days. It will still function if the sun comes out but a lower VLT is better suited since it helps to block more light from coming through the lens. The sonar green lens has a rose base tint to increase contrast. Most lens colors appear as a different tin ton the outside than what you actually experience when wearing the goggle. Hope this helps to clear things up!

If anyone can do it, it's you all! - I got a pair of inserts from *cough* China the arms of which line up almost perfectly with 4 of the MFI magnets in the Anon M2. I wrapped rubber bands around the ends to give them some traction so they stay put inside the goggle frame. Works a charm, but I bet the magnets would be amazing. ;) Remember: MFI as a platform. They already use it this way for the balaclavas and face masks…

How does SONAR compare to PRIZM? Unbiased answer anyone? Kinda torn between those and Line Miners.
@maartenvangenabeek1976
@maartenvangenabeek1976 6 жыл бұрын
Ive tried both, i like prizm hi pink for lowlight conditions. for medium light and high light sonar (s2/s3) is better. However I find both kinda bad deals compared to the market, oakley you pay a lot for one lens, and anons are usually the most expensive. Line miners now are on sale and theyre the cheapest prizm option so id go with that vs paying 240 for the anons, the only nice thing is that they have two lenses. if youre looking for a better deal in between the two id go smith or dragon. Smith's chromapop is fantastic and you get 2 lenses for 130-200. My only knock on smith is that the frame construction isnt really that good and theyre kinda flimsy but they have a life time warranty so whatever. Dragons on the other hand have realllly sturdy frame build for a really good price but lumalens isnt as good as sonar/prizm/chromapop if i had to choose one id probably go line miners with an s2 lens, most places have them on sale for like 120, they have a really sturdy frame build and prizm for that price is unbeatable

Hey MrMklos! Anon's Sonar lenses have become one of the top tier color enhancing lens technology on the market and in our opinion are right up there with Oakley's Prizm technology. They provide amazing contrast while making it easier to spot ice patches on the mountain and other terrain. At the end of the day it comes down to your preference on the goggles style, fit, and comfort. But you can't go wrong with Sonar or Prizm goggles.

I have Anon m3 with Sonar lenses and Oakley Fall line with Prizm lenses. The anon lenses fog easier for sure. Visability wise I find them very close. Looks wise, the oakley prism (except prizm rose) look amazing around the hill.

I have M3's with Zeiss but switched to Oakley Line Miner Inferno's because I was having massive fogging problems. I find the prism lenses are a little better, but the irony is the Line Miner fogs significantly less than the M3 even without using the heating feature.

Which 2 lenses Vlt do you recommend ? I was hesitating between the 19%vlt sonar bronze and the 23vlt% sonar green
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear 5 жыл бұрын
Hello Tommy! If you are looking for one lens for multiple conditions, the Sonar green would be more suitable. But if you are out in bright and sunny conditions most of the time, the Sonar Bronze will work just a bit better. Either way, you wont notice the 4% change in VLT a whole lot. Hope this helps!
