You missed the spirit of devils during chapter 4 or 7 in the monastery archive u have to kill 60 fiends on normal before u fight alma the first time

Using the scarab with the kisetsu balances it out. Your health won't go up or down.

I'm using the Armlet of Tranquility. Give 40 scarabs to the Muramasa.

Yeah, I'll admit it on this one. She was definitely much harder to beat and more annoying to fight.
