Mephistopheles is a name taken from the German drama Faust. He is working for the devil and appears like this in other literary works too. Using the mask is a further indication that there is something dubious going on with the character

I lol’d so hard through your entire rant. I had to read the first two books for the YA BookTube Awards, and I hated them so much. I gave them both 1 star and didn’t even finish the last 10% of the second book. I’ve always thought Audrey Rose sucked. So even though you enjoyed the first two books, your rant made my bitter heart feel so validated 😂😂

So thrilled that you enjoyed Strange Grace. I love it so so much. It was my first time seeing a YA trio like that where they’re well written and the relationships were done so well. That Forest is what I expect of spooky forests now.

Finally, someone who feels the same way about EFH! I finished it and was full of pure rage, especially because of that ending. It ruined so many of the characters for me and I'm so angry that there was hardly any Thomas in the book because of Audrey's choices. UGH. I rage wrote a review on my blog at 2am right after finishing. That's how angry I was... sigh...

I always end up listening to bad reviews of books even if I haven't read them because lord knows I'm not wasting my time reading a bad book if I can help it AND WOW I'm so glad I did. Now I know that whenever I stat the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, Escaping From Houdini will be a struggle to get through. I hate any storylines that even remotely involve cheating and I just know I'm going to get all the angry feels while reading it

Okey so now i really don’t want to read escaping from houdini... i don’t do stupid and problematic love triangles, so can i skip it? I mean, i really want to read the first two books but after what you said, i’m not going to waist time in the third one. So if i watch some spoilery review of it, can i go right to the fourth one when it comes out?
@RileyMarie_6 жыл бұрын
honestly...i think skipping it isn't the worst thing in the world. because the characters basically end the book in the same place they started so like what was the point??

Yeah I didn’t like Escaping From Houdini much at all. I only liked Thomas, the use of the cards, and the murders themselves. I did hate the reveal at the end with the killer though. I wished it was more creative instead of disappointing. I liked some of the details with the carnival and with the setting in general. Audrey Rose’s character totally changed in this book and it makes me so upset. I graciously gave it 3 stars, but yeah it definitely was not a good one for this series. It honestly ruins the books for me.
@RileyMarie_6 жыл бұрын
It ruined the series for me too. And it just felt so unnecessary because they end the book pretty much in the same positions as they started so what was the point?
@stephl63716 жыл бұрын
I am still so angry about Escaping from Houdini. That book has possibly ruined the whole series for me. I just can’t believe how angry I am. It makes me so angry too that she never even apologised. Ugh. At this moment, I don’t know if I even want to read the last book.
@RileyMarie_6 жыл бұрын
I'm still debating if I will continue the series. I'm leaning towards no
@stephl63716 жыл бұрын
Riley Marie I really don’t know. One of the reasons I liked this series is that there wasn’t any unnecessary, purely for drama, relationship crap, like so many tropey YA books have that drive me nuts. To see it just go from an amazing series to Trope City is so irritating. And Audrey was just the worst in the whole book 😔
