I have read The Star Child many times since my wonderful uncle gifted me a beautiful, illustrated Oscar Wilde's Fairy Tales on my 2nd or 3rd birthday. What interest it gave me throughout my childhood! What fascination in The Star Child and the Emperor's Nightingale, et al. I still have that beautiful edition, a treasure. Perfect of you to include it! I' ve seen a small paperback of the Fairytales at a large bookstore next block up. Worth it!!

I read Of Mice & Men in 6th grade and loved it then and still do decades later.

It does seem to be one of those books teens often seem to love, in my experience.

Two other classics that I love-combined page count is approximately 400 pages depending on the edition-are Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass. Most know the stories; but the real pleasure of these works is the appreciation of the many logical, semantical, and ontological puns, paradoxes, and puzzles with which Carrol adroitly accosts the reader.

Absolutely! I love the ondrous and slightly hallucinogenic world of Alice

Absolutely love Of Mice And Men, The Stranger, The Pearl, The Death Of Ivan Ilyich & Snow Country. I’d add Old Man And The Sea - Hemingway Silas Marner - George Eliot Bartleby The Scrivener - Herman Melville and Ethan Frome - Edith Wharton

Of Mice and Men was one of the first classics I actually enjoyed, so it has a special place in my heart. Love Letters sounds so incredible. How anybody ever thought they were just friends is beyond me 💌

The love letters are astonishing, I’m enjoying them enormously…they themselves just thought they’d be just friends as well at first. Vita writes her husband several times that he doesn’t need to worry: she won’t fall in love with Virginia.

Great recommendations! I've been wanting to read more classics but I can only take so many chonky books at a time lol. Another author I really enjoy for classics (for sci-fi) is Ray Bradbury! The Martian Chronicles is one of my favourite classics. I also like Lovecraft's short stories for a little cosmic horror :) Kurt Vonnegut also has some good ones like Harrison Bergeron or Cat's Cradle

The Book of Tea by Okakura Kakuzō is an interesting short Japanese classic. It's more a philosophy book about Japanese culture than about the beverage. It was written in 1906, *in English*, directedtoaWesternaudience...and the author definitely throws shade at Western culture. It's a poetic little book that's had influence on several Western thinkers and artists. I enjoyed reading it last year, and will definitely re-read it
