Much appreciated to see more life of the Wild West. To see life back then compared to today is amazing and to know that people weee happy and content. I believe in progress, however, it would be fun to have some of it back. Thanks again for keeping your viewers in the know about life in the Wild Wild West. Much ❤!

You think those people were happy and content. Not at all. Very hard life. Unimaginable dangers. Happy they were not. Just surviving
@ronaldmayle182311 ай бұрын
"Happy and content." lol Look at the faces of those people. They worked long, hard hours and died at an early age. Most women died in child birth. It was a very hard life.

Grew up in Cherokee and Okmulgee Creek Nations in Eastern Oklahoma. My grandmother, Cherokee, and her “friend” a Choctaw medicine man had a tar roof shack on the Arkansas River near the state line of Oklahoma and Arkansas. “Duder”, my grandmother’s friend (my grandfather died of TB when my mother was young) would tell me stories of the old people how the Earth was really the back of a gigantic turtle. He also told tales of the “little people” in the woods who would capture bad kids and eat them. He could tell the weather better than any meteorologist. My grandmother used to tell us stories passed down from her grandmother who came to the Nations during the Trail of Tears. It’s sad to think that this history is all gone and few know about it much less write about it.

Those were hard times but a person was in charge of one's future. Today with the greed and control in our government the future has been stolen from us all. Oh how I yearn for the "Good old Days".

People are people. The only thing that changes is technology. There was greed and government control back then too. If you could go back to the past, you would ownly being trading one set of problems for another set.

I was born in Oklahoma in the early 60s. My first barber was a full blooded Native American named Hickory Star. They taught us a lot of local history in elementary school back then about the pioneers and the Indians. I wonder if they still do that.

CRITICISM: I liked this video with photos from the old west because they are not studio photos... they are real photos... taken alive... at that time it was common to take photos in studios... the photographer lent the gun. .. but then I had to return the gun... but not here in this video... the photos are real... no studies... thanks for posting

My grandpa's sister Yvonne was a family historian, I used to like going to visit her when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, she had so many photo albums and memorabilia I could spend an entire day looking through them and learning about the old days. They grew up in Northern BC in the early 1900s, Gramps was born in 1929, the youngest of 13 kids, they had a pig farm and ran a lumber mill near Dawson Creek, the land was given to them as an incentive to become Canadian citizens in the 1880s (They'd been on a quest for gold and were on their way to Alaska since not having much luck in California). Yvonne had albums full of photos during those times from California's gold rush through to 1989 when she passed. My aunt Diane does the history collection now.

In the photo US DEPUTY MARSHALS AND CLERICAL force, was there any individual identification of the men? My great grandfather was allegedly a deputy marshal in this area at this time but I have not been able to document it. Last name was Duncan.
@legacyofthewest Жыл бұрын
The only person I found that is identified in the photo is Bill Tilghman, who is standing in the front row, second from the left. The Oklahoma State Historical Society might be able to help you find more information about your great grandfather. I hope some museum has the people identified in this photo, I'm just not finding it.
