So glad there’s people on the road who feel the need to film themselves. God damn.

couple questions, 1} whats the best time to go for this...... 2} i live in the area but im in a wheelchair and have been trying to find a spot to go...the NYPA platform always has the elevator out of order and the only other spot that might work for me is down by the jet boat tours which is farther down stream. Is it only good farther upstream?

Hey! I personally would say any time is a good time at the River because I’ve caught fish at all times of day there. Some might say it is mornings and evenings that work the best, but it is mainly up to if you are lucky that day or not because the fish are going to hit when they want to hit. As far as places to fish, going upstream past Devils Hole State Park is going to put you in faster rapids which will make it harder to fish. I know people fish the whirlpool all the time but anything past that is a no go. Down stream would be the best option in my opinion for a better shot at catching something. I haven’t checked out the mouth near Fort Niagara but I believe there are some platforms to fish near there but I could be wrong, I would Google that before you go there. There also might be some options near the Artpark art gallery but again I would check on Google to see because I am not 100% familiar with that area. One place I am pretty familiar with is right near a restaurant called The Silo. This is down stream from Devils Hole so the fish have to pass through there, and I have seen people pull out some nice steelhead, lakers, and even small mouth in the summer months. This would probably be your best shot because there is a small boat launch and a nice pier/platform to fish on and it should be pretty easily accessible. It’s also an added bonus to get a hot dog or burger from the Silo after! I hope this helped! I’ll think about it a bit more in the coming days and if anything comes to mind I will tag you in another comment. Thanks for watching and good luck!

You have a nice path on the USA side, i need to get out and give it a shot and maybe catch some Canadian fish. Cool video man! Simple set up too, i like it.
@jdawgsjigs012410 ай бұрын
Thanks! That’s funny because I always thought the Canadian path looked easier hahaha. Either way the path is more than good enough and the views on the way down are awesome. You should definitely get over here sometime and try it because it seems like it’s different from the Canadian side as far as current and depth go. I gotta try out the Canadian side sometime I’ve always wanted to try the upper river by the Peace Bridge because I always see people wading in over there float fishing. Thanks for watching the videos! Good luck!

I’m new to fishing Niagara river and port Dalhousie in St. Catharines. For shore fishing what would you recommend for rod length / action/ make? Spinning reel thoughts as well?? You fishing with 8 lb test ? Thanks a lot!
@jdawgsjigs012410 ай бұрын
There’s a bunch of different stuff you can use for a rod I usually use anything from 7ft-9ft in length and a medium or medium/heavy action. You can get anything from Cabelas or Dicks Sporting Goods. I personally don’t believe that you need all of the expensive stuff, the Cabelas brand rods work very well and Daiwa works well too, both of these are very wallet friendly. As for reels anything Okuma, Pflueger, or Quantum works, just make sure you can get enough line on there. I would read up on reels a bit online for how many yards of certain pound tests you can use on certain reels. For line I usually go with 10-12 pound test for trout in the river. As long as you set the drag on your reel loose enough the line won’t snap. I usually go with Stren, Trilene, Sufix, or Pline. Once the salmon start running in the river I usually bump my pound test up to 15 because the salmon can get pretty big.

Like someone else, nice simple set-up. So I like how you always say what the weather is, and roughly where your at ... Could you also maybe include the date ? So this way when people look back on your video a year or two years down the road or 6 months from now they have an idea of when this was. Love you productions.

@ 13:48, you've got a UFO? in the sky over your left shoulder above you in the sky as your walking up the stairs?
@jdawgsjigs01249 ай бұрын
Hahahaha I never noticed that!, I wonder what that was! There’s usually a lot of helicopters and things flying overhead around there so it could have been that but it’s definitely weird! I’ll have to keep an eye out next time I’m there.

Coming up tomorrow for the first time ever from Cleveland! Think the is any chance to catch a lake trout? What would be my best tactic for trying to catch on ? I’ve seen jig and a swim bait or a silver spoon but wasn’t sure on size or weight for either method
@jdawgsjigs01249 ай бұрын
Nice! You’ll have a great time. There is for sure a chance you’ll get a lake trout, they’re still in there pretty thick this time of year. I would go with spoons 3/4 ounce, I like cleos and moonshines or even the cabelas brand that look like cleos. You can use 2/5 ounce spoons but I would put a small weight on there to get it down deeper with that current. I would also use spinners number 5 or 6, any brand would do. As far as colors I would go with anything blue, green, silver, gold, bronze, or orange. Colors like blue and green mixed with silver work great. Personally I never have much luck with jigs and swim baits but I’ve seen guys get them on those before. For the spoons and spinners just cast it out there as far as possible, let it sink for about 3-4 seconds and then just use a slow retrieve. You’ll have to get a feel for where the bottom is so you don’t get snagged but that shouldn’t take more than a few casts. Good luck! It’s always a fun time down there even just to soak up the views! Thanks for watching!

Would you mind tell me what park name or how do I get there from Cleveland, Ohio. On the last shot of your video while you are walking away, there is seagauls with rocks, do they allow the fishermen fish here on the part of island there. thx big
@jdawgsjigs01249 ай бұрын
Yeah! The park is Devils Hole right by the whirlpool. It’s pretty far from Cleveland about 4 hours or so. As far as the island goes you are able to fish there I’ve seen people using center pins in that area. The only problem with there is it can get a bit dangerous because the water tends to rise pretty fast so you always have to be aware.

Hey thanks for watching! Always great to hear people from the area are interested in what I put out there. With my work schedule it’s tough to set up certain days so I mainly go out on a whim but I’m sure I’ll eventually catch you down there one of these days! Good luck this year!
