Another Asgardian! Another "Son of Coul" joke! This time it is Lady Sif!

Since KZbin decided to show the "#SonOfCoul" joke to everyone , I thought it would be a good idea to post the Lady Sif one as well.

Well he knows their from norse myth. The nordic people of old usually got their surname from the father's first name and whether they were his son or daughter. For example Thor is, Thor Odinson, Loki would be by adoption Loki Odinson, but biologically hed be Loki Laufeyson, or if hes in God of War hed be Atreus Kratosson.

The thing is - that one actually makes sense. The surname ‘Dickinson’ is derived from the surname ‘Dickens’ (yes, as in Charles Dickens), so it’s ‘Dickens’s son’, later shortened to Dickinson.

Well, in nordic your last name is you father name like thor odinson, or Loki leaufeyson. So when phil coulson said his name they think 'coul' is his father name. I hope u understand. English is not my native

I like this because it's not really like a joke, it's funny to us but it's just a custom that makes sense for Asgardians to use.

Not just asgaurdians tho. That's litteraly what the name means. Anyone with son at the end of there name. Johnson is son of John for example. From Germany to northern Europe basically,thats where that type of name came from.

@@thrasherfoo Depends a bit on the language. In Swedish there is always two "S"s, as in Johnsson. In Danish and Norwegian it can go either way, but if it has only one "s" it is usually Danish, sometimes Norwegian. In English (usually in the USA) they always drop one "S" so it is hard to tell, but since most people in the US with such name are of Swedish decent, you can usually (to 75%) say they are from Swedish ancestry.

@@thrasherfoo From what I understand, it was how names went for a lot of Scandanavian countries until Christianity came along. Son's would have "son" at the end, and daughters would have "dottir" at the end. For example, if Thor had a son and a daughter they would have the last name of "Thorsson" and "Thordottir" respectively.

When you think about it, the film Captain Marvel kind of ruins this scene because in this scene, Lady Sif said that none of the aliens she mentioned (Kree being one of them) haven't visited Earth in years, but in CM, Phil Coulson is aware of the Kree by the end of that film.

a) yes its canon, it has to this day not been contradicted b) yeah thats a little awkward, but it can still work if you assume that by "recently" coulson meant just that, recently by earth terms. remember, captain marvel is set in the 90es, which at this point would be close to 20 years ago. asgard clearly doesnt know about that either (they dont really seem to know much of anything tbh), so he could just have been checking to see if they saw anything he missed for a change. c) yeah, of their existence. but we dont know how much fury actually told him. mightve been a brief summary ommitting anything but the most necessary details, mightve been an in-depth long conversation detailing everything that happened including how carol tricked him into admitting he cant eat diagonally sliced sandwiches. he might just not have been able to connect the dots on the bloated half eaten corpse with black eyes and the aliens fury had to deal with one and a half decades ago that he never even saw himself.
