Thank you for posting, loved those engines. I was taught to elongate the oil passage holes to look a bit like a kayak. At high rpm it makes a bigger pool of oil for the bearings. Hope it runs good for you.

@claytonhollister482 Thanks for the comments! Yes, I have seen that as well, but I'm not sure about my die grinder skills, ha!

My go-to cam for a mild low compression 455 back in the '80s was the Crane 266HIT cam, 216/228*@.050" and .454/.480 lift on a 112*LSA. It had a nice lope cold but smoothed out when warm to sound nice with great vacuum. I had the first one (ordered from "PAW" out of California back then!) in my '72 LeSabre Custom 455, in an otherwise stock motor with a HV Melling pump kit and NOS Stage 1 valve springs from the Buick dealer, which ironically was in the same building that I worked in from 1994-2003 has been my personal shop since 2005!!

Never lay your crankshaft horizontal. Always straight up unless it's in the block. Love the Buick 455. Such torque monsters, even stock. 👍
