"Interesting" fact: FalleN and other players from ex-Luminosity (now SK) one of the best teams in the world, played Crossfire competitively because CSGO was not popular at all in Brazil around 2012/2013 right after CS 1.6 pretty much died, they won all local tournaments and FalleN himself considers the game pretty bad, he even said to Fer something amongst these lines, "let's play Crossfire, it's just install and win" back then.

I used to play Crossfire back in the day and it was fun as fuck. As someone who has actually played Crossfire and Counterstrike a lot I can tell you that they are nothing alike. The guns don't feel the same, the gamemodes don't feel the same, they are very different.

Combat arms is still active even today with a medium sized fanbase, unfortunately the staff sucks ass, they have combined servers cause CA died off after the first three years, and it's turned to Pay To Win. Trust me, I have four GOA (General of The Army, highest rank) accounts each grossing about $500 put into them, and even with skill gained from such amount of playing, they always release an OP gun for like $50 which breaks the game, forcing you to deal with it or pay $20 to disallow those guns.

Crossfire isnt a pay2win game at all. Guns like ak47 and m4a1, which can be bought with GP permanently are one of the opiest guns in the game. Also, every week there are 1 up to 3 events, giving u a chance of winning some permanent crate/capsule weapons, which either way u will have to pay for, and u wont even be able to completely guarantee urself a sure win.

The thing about crossfire is that they tried to do what cs 1.6 didn't do and the did a fine job at it. So good in fact that its fan base has been just as popular (and at some point even more popular) than cs1.6 itself. Playing this game in my child years was great. Coming home from school and just hoppin on crossfire to play some ghost mode and mutants was the most satisfying thing ever. Playing it recently after being more mature about learning the cs style fps, really opened my eyes to how to play crossfire properly too. In fact I really enjoy the crossfire playstyle to csgos playstyle. Once crossfire HD officially releases to the US I really hope it brings back the fun we all missed back in the day.

actually, crossfire did work with counter-strike in some cases, which is the making of counter-strike online, it's not really from valve, but it's still counter-strike. hence the making of "black widow" is with help from nexon (or whoever made cso) and the making of "port/ship" in cso is helped by crossfire. so it's not a clone, they're 2 different games.

+ImmortalHD That actually isn't a copy of Counter Strike, which btw I play Source and GO, but that was actually more of a copy of Combat Arms, another very similar game that I have also played. Very similar, but with other unique stuff like RPG and grenade launchers, crossbows and bows, and also the ability to buy backpacks that let you have even more guns in you in-game inventory. I remember at one point I had a backpack that let me have my pistol (automatically), plus any FOUR guns of my choosing, so I had an SMG, a shotgun, a sniper rifle, and an assault rifle. It was a very fun game with great gameplay and I would highly recommend you look into it. It also had many different kinds of guns and knives with different skins. Also you could different sights for guns, silencers, etc. If I remember correctly the game was based on teams of mercenaries fighting each other. Many different original maps including the unique zombie maps one of which was like a medical testing lab where the zombie virus was supposed to have originated from. Not to mention zombies could special powers sometimes which was cool. But yeah, you should definitely check into it.
