Join me as I chase the Sierra Northern Railway “Hill Job” eastbound from Jamestown to Standard. I couldn’t resist the chase as three Genset locomotives were powering the job on this day. Not only is it rare to catch three locos powering this job, but Sierra’s first generation Genset #52 was back on the job. I catch the train at Seco Street in Jamestown, parallel it on 7th Avenue and catch it once more crossing Campo Seco Road in Sonora. We get a break in the chase and stop to watch the job switching propane cars at the JS West off loading facility on Washington Street in Sonora. Once the switching duties were complete we again resume the case eastbound through Sonora. I catch the train crawling through the recent derailment location on Hospital Road, rounding a curve at Sanguinetti Loop, and crossing the wooden, Sullivan Creek trestle. I close with the job arriving at Standard yard where I find eight propane cars that have been off loading. This was the reason for the addition of the third locomotive on the eastbound job. Two trains ended up taking the eight cars with a total of six center beam cars loaded with lumber westbound for Oakdale on this day. Unfortunately though, the chases ended with the conclusion of the eastbound journey. I added some additional features to this video. An opening featuring music was added for additional entertainment. Also, in addition to narrating the video, the debut of my face appears on camera😁. It is likely you will see much more of these new features to come in future videos. I hope you enjoy the chase as we follow this rare job east with its power of gensets. Remember to like, comment, share and subscribe! Thank you for your support and views!
