this wouldnt be too bad for a laptop, atleast i think. ive never tried any loud music out on my laptop. i might to see if this is ok for a laptop speaker though

Welp, I have been working on an Inspiron upgrade, and it turns out those speakers from the Beats Dv7 (that I dismantled a few months ago) fit not only the connection head, but almost exactly into the laptop bottom shell. Gotta figure out how to DIY this subwoofer into a disc tray enclosure with it's own amp and power it through the 5v for the optical drive, but this was definitely inspirational. Thanks!

I can only imagine how heavy the limiting must have been on the original amp lol

It must have been bad. These subs bottom out so easily. My guess is it also limited low frequencies.

always Amused by laptop's that claim they have a "Subwoofer" currently have a Dell XPS with JBL Speakers and a 2.1 setup with two small speakers on either side and a "Subwoofer" on the bottom. sounds better than alot of laptop speakers with lower extension but its not a damn subwoofer lol.

Not bad at all! But toshiba with their good old harman kardon laptops would still compete with them or any other eg Equium p300, or the a300 series 🤩

I love it , I have lenovo Y50 with the best laptop speakers I've ever had. a JBL speakers with crystal clear and clean sound with an amazing sub-woofer. then I bought his successor the Legion Y720 that got Atom Dolby instand of JBL and I dont enjoy ATOMS Dolby at all. so I sell and Y720 and back to my old Y50. now I thinking of buying the Y740 , and again they using Atom Dolby , so I wonder if could just buy a Y50 speakers and replace the Dolby Atom on the Y740 with lenovo Y50 JBL. I still digging in this subject , don't know if there's a place for the sub-woofer inside the Y740.

Thanks for watching. I, for one, highly doubt you can put a subwoofer into a laptop that it didnt come with for the simple reason that the amp is built into the motherboard. So there is just power amp for the subwoofer. Probably one of the best "sounding" laptops I have is a Asus G74SX after doing a lot of EQing to the speakers. It doesnt have a subwoofer, but the speaker drivers it has a actually larger than this subwoofer. I used to have a Dell XPS 17 that sounded good (had the JBL speakers) but not as good as the Asus. Ironically the worst sounding laptop I've ever heard is a Asus Chromebook. But for me it's all relative because I hate listening to music through laptop speakers.

Are you serious??? Y50 has a good sound? hahahaha The real good sound you can find in a Dell XPS L702x That model has 2 JBL speakers with insane Sub!!! That will blow your mind. I love laptops with good buil in audio, actually i only choose laptops with great build in speakers ONLY! as well as tablets. Sound in very important for me.
