I just got the base model. I think it's great. I did get a non Microsoft type cover from Amazon for $30 that is blue tooth but very nice and lasts 120 hours of full operating time. I have a 1440p gaming desktop, a nitro gaming laptop, and still think this has a purpose. I use it for web conferences, excel, work functions, video watching, and more. I just don't plan on gaming on it, or doing 3d modeling. I think the Pentium is fast enough, it's faster than my work PC with an i3 in most cases. Everyone dogs the base version, but for $400 and a $30 type cover I don't see any bad in it. I'm really glad I went with this model.

There seems to be some misconceptions in the comment here, let me help. Tablet Mode and Windows 10 S Mode are not the same thing. The former can be turned on and off at any point, switching the UI between a desktop environment and a touch based UI. The latter is something you turn off once so you can download 3rd party programs like Photoshop or Chrome and you never deal with it again. These are not the same. Secondly, this can run full Windows programs, just like the first gen Go. Yes Chrome does work on it, but the new Edge is based on Chromium anyway, so maybe give that a try while you are at it?

I am always so tempted to buy a surface go or pro, then I realize what I use my laptop's for and my tablets for and they don't hit it. I think Microsoft has to work on the tablet use case , if not it makes more sense to buy a cheaper iPad, Android, or fire tablet, plus a good$600-$700 laptop if these are going to be a companion device anyway.
@RK-um9tu4 жыл бұрын
Nothing can be done in tablet mode that can't be done in computer mode. But the reverse is not true. This is why tablet mode is an afterthought on computer/tablet hybrids, laptops, and desktops. Also, why is Apple is the only big tech company with no 1) computer/ tablet hybrids and 2) laptops that have touchscreens or pen support.? Answer - iPad sales would plummet.

@andyH_England4 жыл бұрын
The Duet would be cheaper and be less slow than a Pentium Surface Go. In fact nearly everything around the $400 price would be better than the Go 2. So it is really about whether £1000 for an m3 Surface Go2 makes any sense? I think it only makes sense if you need the 10-inch form factor. However, for me getting anything done on a 10-inch device would be unproductive and inefficient so as my main device it is a no-Go! At £1000 for a secondary device, assuming that I had the disposable income is a hard buy, and TBH I would prefer an iPad Air with the keyboard and Apple Pencil. So not really, and probably only for MS fans especially if it is mainly for tablet use, the iPad (or a Tab S6) would outclass the Surface Go 2 in that mode. And before Windows fans claim it can run all X86 apps, it cannot run them all well, and some it will run badly and some not at all; the m3 remains a low to mid chip. So the Go 2 (m3) is for those that do not mind paying too much, do not mind having poorer performance compared to the competition and who are not concerned that as a tablet it it bettered by Chrome (Galaxy Chromebook), Android and iOS tablets...
@winterroll52554 жыл бұрын

Meh.... just get a Chromebook at that point. The Surface is like a wannabe Chromebook. What do you really need Windows for at this point? Everything is cloud based now...and the things that you would need to accomplish that are not cloud based, are not happening with a Surface Go to begin with anyways. Most of these are just issued by companies anyways on an enterprise level... not like the vast majority of individual people who use a Surface even chose to buy it.

I'd be willing to bet over half of Surface sales can be attributed internally for employees of Microsoft/Windows working within that bubble in which Microsoft bought their own product to issue to employees. Then the other majority is enterprise purchases/usage. Followed by that one random dude who thinks the Surface is really great.

Because here's the simple reality. The people who "don't get" what I've been talking about....were never going to drop a grand for a Surface too begin with. Cue the 10 year old internet outrage comment.

@TheGoat Chrome OS isn't a mobile OS. Welcome to the future....or several years ago. Take your pick. Because literally everything you said after and before that was null and void. And do be sure to read words because I think you missed about 99% of the point. Maybe you should try Chrome OS before confusing it with Android?

I must be doing something wrong I purchased the surface pro 7 on sale because it was basically the same price as the better go2. It’s terrible it lags it’s slow I can’t even watch Netflix because it can’t keep up. I think I’ll stick with my iPad and a standard laptop

Who buys tech at full retail prices? My SG2 (8 ram, 128 ssd, Pentium Gold) only cost $389 and works great.

Yeah I like the form factor but I would go with the iPad. I have a iPad and I'm not sure if I had this I would use the surface go but it's better than the last model.

You didn't enjoy it because Surface Go is cheap 🙄. Not everything is a $1000 iPad Pro.

An iPhone is. They run the same OS and do exactly the same things...
