Jeff the vine looking thing that you found in the Sauna is not a fly swatter, it’s a whisk or “vihta” this is a bundle of branches (usually birch) that you wack yourself with to open up your skins natural pores, help relax muscles, and increase blood flow. It’s very common in Finnish culture.

Birch is commonly used because the leaves have natural soap in them, too, but leaves from other trees can be used as well. The whisk is usually soaked in hot water first (this is a mandatory step if it's a dried whisk).

I'm Finnish and this is exactly how our cabin season starts every summer. Including eating mushrooms and being scared of imaginary bears.

In Finland the mosquitos are relatively large. Thats why the sound. In tropical countries the mosquitos are so small that you dont hear them. Also the lake water is not blueish but brown in 99% of lakes because the numerious swamps (Finland is Suomi in native language where suomaa means literally swamp land) are outflowing organic material to it.

Yeah, there's a lot of mud and organic stuff in a lot of lakes, but despite this majority of the lake and river water is very clean. Perfectly safe for swimming. While it's not recommended that you drink from them, you're pretty unlikely to get sick. Especially if you boil the water you should be fine.

Shooting a bee nest 😂 that was so overkill lol. I would've tried throwing a beer bottle first. Also, as others have said, the buzzing you hear is flies/mosquitos, hence why you can swat them. Like in MSC if you get too sweaty I imagine it attracts them to you.

To get upstairs to your room you have to crouch to get up there. The couch you sleep for 20 mins only. The bed you can choose how long you want to sleep, 2 hours 4 hours or 8 I think.

the bees can kill you and if you stop the boat in the river it can float away. all the neighbours have little side quests for you to do in order to get things you need. you can fish and hunt and i think there is a store too. have fun jeff

i think the buzzing when your not near the bee hive is from a mosquitos, my summer car had to too, i removed that via a mod, donno if there is mods for this yet tho

Those random buzzes are just flies and other harmless bugs that exist in the Finnish nature but that annoying high pitched sound comes from the mosquitos. You can use repellent or smoke coils to keep them away.

There's quite a bit of detail in this game, funny too! Curious to see more of it. Exploration, visiting the town centre, go shopping at Teimo's, figuring out how the sauna works, roast sausages on that barbecue, and check if the game has a designated 'perkele' button. The main thing I'm missing so far is the funny translation at the bottom that MSC has. Then you know it's authentic 😂

The "bush" in sauna is called vasta or vihta. In the olden days it was used as a soap. In rural Finland soap was scarse and birch leaves were used instead. Nowadays it have mearly a symbolic status as a optional (essential for some) bathing item.

It's not symbolic. Hitting yourself with it feels nice. It smells great, too. It increases the blood flow and the natural soaps from birch leaves still work.

The buzzing is mosquitos, a normal day in the nordics in the summer, I love summer but the mosquitos are soooooooooo annoying here. From Sweden but it's practically the same. Those are wasps and not bees ;) Bees are nice. The light thing when u cut the grass is a raincatcher to measure how much it rained.

This seems like a much more polished version of MSC. Way prettier, little details like the grass cutting is amazing. The jenk of MSC kinda made me stop playing it (I know it's partially the point of that game, but it got so frustrating)
