All animals are special in their own way. You said it right when you described little Chia as loyal and adorable. A starving cat can have bad fur from malnutrition. Tortie looks starved with hopefully a skin condition and not a cat disease.

Aww poor kitty! Looks like a tortoiseshell and torties are nearly always female. Very rarily you get a male tortie. Poor thing looks like shes had it pretty rough! Glad she found you guys! Hopefully after a vet visit and some medicine and lots of love and tlc shell be feelin and lookin better and be great new addition to the place! Female tortie. Its "cooter" hole is directly below it's boo-hole. I rescued one that looked almost exactly like & the same condition as the one you have there. Medicated bath, flea and worm treatment needed asap, small regular meals until it's healthy again. Fur condition for my rescue cat was like that because of fleas mostly. Keep up the good work LE & Megan 😊👍

The new cat is a Tortie, and all Torties are females. This kitty looks like she has the beginnings of mange. Maybe this kitty got lost during the flood. She's awfully friendly. I think she was owned before.

What a beautiful tortie cat...she (most tortishell or calico are always female males are very rare) definitely needs a vet visit to get checked out before joining your kitty crew. Looks like she might have flea dermatitis and probably got displaced during the flooding...some food, fresh water, and vet care will hopefully help that beautiful kitty feel better soon. She looks very sore from the way she's moving so possibly a injury from the flooding or something. I had a gorgeous sassy long haired tortie kitty named Helga for 16 years...she was my baby and broke my heart when she passed away from kidney failure in 2020. I have two now...a torbie named Coconut ( she kinda looks like Gunpowder and Daffy) and a Russian Blue named Blueberry ...both are rescues.

Good for you, L.E.! So many cats are on their own for whatever reason. I just took in a male a few weeks ago. He looked just as bad as she does and had horrible diarrhea. He wouldn't let me get my hands on it, but I began feeding it and lacing its food with antibiotics, diarrhea meds, and in a few days, an herbal worm treatment. He is much better and is gaining weighr. I still have to take it to the vet, but apparently he can read my mind and runs away when I plan to take him. He is getting a little tamer and I think maybe next week I can get him in to the vet. Good luck with the totie!

LE that a tortie which usually means it's a girl same as Cali cats it's rare to have a male I have alot strays I've TNR over 20 so far but that looks like she's loaded with fleas the fur that looks wet is from her licking it and all the flea dirt ( poop ) which turns bloody when wet when they're loaded with fleas She'll also be loaded with round worm Thank you for caring for her

This is Tortie, usually females. Very affectionate kitty. Please if you can get her to get asap, you may save her life. Definitely, quarantine her till you know what she has. They are allergic to flea bites, one possibility.

Easy way to potty train. Always use same door to take her out, that way she can and you will know that’s what she needs to do. Feed her the same time every day. Don’t let her free feed yet till she’s potty trained and older to know when to stop eating 😂. Take her out every half hour for first few days then you can start going longer. They usually catch on quick about potting outside if you do this. I know it’s hard but also not letting her play outside till she learns outside is potty time first then can play. She is cute I love phoebe it fits her.

Poor little baby was probably relocated by the flood . It might be flea ridden and its skin is irritated. Poor thing probably hasn’t eaten for awhile . The vet can tell you and treat it . I’d say it’s a female , it’s a version of calico called tortoise shell . She will be beautiful when healthy. Thank you for caring for her .

My dog had mange and it can’t be transferred to cats. I’m sure she has fleas and worms.. My guess she came from the flood waters. Poor kitty.. God bless ❤

When you take her to the vet, have them check for a microchip. She may have become lost during the flood. She could have become emaciated quickly with no food.
