Pickle Ball! I’m determined to get me and my husband into that. Love this color on you and the pattern lines are interesting. Good for you teaching.

It's been surprisingly fun. We've been to two classes and the second was definitely easier than the first. I think it helps that our instructor is very patient, and most people are complete novices (like me). It sure burns a lot of calories!

Your shirt is an amazing colour on you. I bought a new pattern the other day and it's a knit tunic with colour blocking. I might have to get some fabric to join you in the tunic sew-a-long

Nancy, that sounds like a great idea! Colour blocking is always so much fun. It gives us a chance to be so creative.

Love Norions has a knit tunic. I had the perfect, cuddly fabric. I cut out all the pieces with the stretch on the length and none on the width. Sadly I haven’t revisited that pattern. This video has inspired me!

I miss Julie’s, AKA Goodbye Valentino, presence in the sewing world. I have made several tunics from the book with excellent results. I also took a weekend class from her at 5/8th Seams in Charleston, SC. It was so much fun. The book is super inspiring.

Can't tell you how many times I've looked at that pattern and passed it up because I wasn't sure if it would work for my figure type. I love the top you made with it - the color is just so pretty and I think it fits very well and the neckline is a cut above the usual and makes it special, too. Guess who else has the Tunic Bible and hasn't used it after asking for it for Christmas that year 😆?!?

That color and fabric are delightful on you! ❤❤❤ I also have the Tunic bible and have not cracked it. Well, I’ve looked at it for inspiration but have yet to make anything, lol! Love the memory of your brown cord tunic and that has reminded me that I have yards of baby cord that would be great as a Winter tunic. Could be that a jumper pinafore is more in my needs category though. I made the Schoolhouse tunic from sew Liberated and tossed the pattern after I found it impossible to get in and out of it -or move my arms! Could be user errror, lol! Great video content as always! Janine, how I wish I could join you in your tunic sewing. I have a new tunic pattern that I’d like to try but we’re going to Japan to visit our son in November so I don’t think I’ll have time. I love your blue top with the pleated neck and sleeves. It will be perfect for your Canadian autumn and winter. We took up pickleball with a group of our friends during the COVID pandemic. It was a perfect time to take it up when indoor gatherings were discouraged and nothing really was open. We learned via KZbin! You’ll get the hang of it. It’s really pretty easy even though the rules seem complicated at first. X

Diane, a trip to Japan sounds like a lot more fun than sewing a tunic! At our pickleball class last week the instructor spent a lot of time on scoring and keeping score and it is complicated! Thanks for sharing that it gets easier. x

The top you are wearing is beautiful, the color is perfect for you. So cooly mentioned the "Tunic Bible", I purchased mine at about the same time. I have pulled it out a couple of times and glanced through it. This vlog has made me commit to doing this sew-a-long. I feel inspired!

Wonderful! It's funny how many of us bought it and didn't use it. I guess that says something about the timelessness of tunics when we can buy a book and several years later the patterns and styles are still current. Please let me know how you do with your tunic!

Hi Janine, I love the Tunic Bible! I made 2 Tunics from the book in 2018 - one for my mother and one for my daughter. I didn’t make one for myself because it was out of my size range. 😢 Now I think, I am back in the size range and hope to sew one soon.

I love your beautiful blue top. I wonder if it would work in a lightweight fleece, omitting the interfacing in the neck. I just love all the darts. Ah tunics! It reminds me of grade 5, late 60's when pantsuits were so popular and a my school girls were finally allowed to wear slacks. I had a few pantsuits and the tops were always tunic length. My favourite was lime green with a half zipper front with the big ring as a zipper pull. I have a few tunic patterns, one with pintucks at the shoulders, coming partway down the front. I've had it for years, time to actually make it. My plan this week is to also clean up the plant pots, try to save a few over the winter, and do a general yard clean up
@JanineSews3 ай бұрын
Big rings on zipper pulls. THAT takes me back! I wonder if we can find those anywhere? Did you get the yard cleaned up? It always feels like we only planted those pots 5 minutes ago and now the season is over 😔
@jennetthamilton9713 ай бұрын
@JanineSews We were outside all morning and it was quite warm. We accomplished quite a bit, but have more to finish up tomorrow morning. I am on the search for a zipper with the big ring pull. I would rather be sewing than doing yard work but it has to be done. Did you get snow today?

I think the top you made is fantastic. My sewing and everything came to a complete halt. I really had not been feeling good but couldn’t place my finger on it. Prior to a scheduled Dr. appointment I was doing quite a bit of vomiting and had a day of being quite short of breath. So I went in to see my Dr. Oct 11. Well my chest was all over the place struggling to breathe. I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma. It took sometime between insurance denying first inhaler and pharmacy having to order the improved inhaler. I really struggled to breathe and could barely talk because I didn’t have enough air. I finally got my inhaler a few days ago and what a difference it has made. Breathing so much better, nausea is gone, and my mental status is also better. The only 2 things is my chest got such an extreme workout struggling to breathe that it is quite sore and my appetite is way down. I was able to do bit of homework today and I’m hoping to get back in sewing room this next week. Life doesn’t slow down I need to do some things in the house and I need to get clothes ready & packed to go spend holidays down in Florida.
