Every Wheat I've dug has been 4-7 inches in the ground. That 1941 Wheat on the surface was a surprise.

Definitely, that’s the only one I have ever found on the surface out of all the wheaties I have dug. Every other one has been 4-7 also maybe even a couple an inch or two deeper.

Thanks for posting! I just bought the Nokta DS and still learning it. I'm using park mode primarily and while I've not yet had iron ring a high pitch, I've dug my share of aluminum and bottle caps on signals reading well into the 40s. Any tips on this or anything else related to the DS?

Unfortunately with pretty much any detector out there aluminum is going to ring up high. As you use the machine more you will learn the sounds better also. Always try to turn at least 90 degrees on a target and get a feel for how it sounds both ways. Chances are, if it sounds trashy it probably is. If you suspect it’s something big like a can you can usually tell also by swinging around the target and if you are getting a loud signal over a large area it may be large trash. You can also raise the coil higher and if it’s still loud chances are it’s big. Unfortunately sometimes you are going to dig smaller pieces of aluminum and bottle caps.

I have never used a Vanquish 540, I cannot make a comparison between the 540 and the double score.
