i live in British Columbia Canada ,i retired from trucking about 12 years ago,we have electronic logs here too now but were still using paper logs when i retired .i cant believe how restrictive your hours are right down to the last minute,like you said your off duty time is supposed to be for relaxing but if you have to keep such a close eye on the clock the whole time that must be very stressful,you are doing a great job by detailing your movements as you go along and describe what you are doing.i did dump trailer work back in the 70"s and still remember having to watch out for wires and roof corners etc. keep up the good work. yogi.

Loads of respect, I know those roads to and around Kingsbridge as I used to live in Plymouth, defo not the easiest to navigate, let alone with a lorry! The A38 hill is a biggie for lorries, steep and they slow down quite a bit going up hill .
@martinsatchell9 ай бұрын
I thought I recognised those roads, then the cottage on the corner of the lane! Yes was there last summer! I loaded out of the other yard on the right, rather than going left down on to that yard.

I’ve been holidaying in the South Hams for over 30 years Kingsbridge is a lovely old market town but like every were the old traditional shops are gradually closing & Dartmouth needs some attention as it’s mainly holiday homes. You weren’t far from East Prawle which must be almost impossible to get too in a truck.

It's a way of life is tramping, so they say but you have my respect because it's not a way of life I could undertake. Done 14hr 45min days etc but I always loved going home at the end of the day. The stress of finding showers, parking etc would do my head in as this country let's hgv drivers down so badly. Again, kudos to you for the job you. Nice rig btw. Go steady drive 🙏

Spent most of my working life on the road as an electrical engineer, usually driving a 'little' van. Though I did occasionally have to use a 7.5 tonner. Fortunately, I passed my car test long enough ago to legally drive one on my car licence. My experience of motorway services is very varied, and I really feel for you having to use them all the time, as some are really awful. I remember Stafford services being built. Prior to that, there was nothing between Keele and Hilton Park. God bless you, drive safe.

Hey Jemma, I’ve just found your channel and it’s bloody fascinating. So this is just a shout to keep going. I know what it’s like to hit the KZbin wall and don’t even what to think about it for weeks on end…. But the old Al Gore -rhythms don’t like that. Keep pushing if you can, the pressure will lift and you’ll be glad you hung onto the channel. It gets tough, but it really is worth the hassle and you’re taking off a treat!

I used to go to Switzerland from Ireland weekly , the load was for Milan but had to be cleared into Switzerland at Weil Am Rhein then onto Pratteln 10 kms south of Basel for a new set of papers then back to Basle for the overnight train to Lugano near the Italian border Como …Full nights break usually on the train at least 9 hrs and because the product I carried was a class 9 hazardous I couldn’t use the Tunnel at Gothard …Anyway my point on this train I used to meet a Dutchman who pulled a tanker , it was a new FH 16 but a longline extension on the cab an amazing transformation meaning the cab was 10 ft long ..He has a shower and toilet but only took 3 feet of space , a fabulous piece of kit but because he had a shorter trailer he could have a much bigger cab …Surely with a tipping trailer the same should be available?…

Onboard scales and only one trailer plus you get 45 min rest breaks. Easy life 😉. I have to self load 2 trailers with good guesswork so as to not overload on axle groups and I only get 20mins break after 5 hours duty time 😉. Onya though Jemma for trucking in Blighty. It's not for the faint-hearted. I left it behind over 10 years ago now after having a gut full of English winters. That's what gave me the determination to move to Australia and drive roadtrains. It took a while to get sorted but that's what I do here in Western Australia. No more freezing temperatures for me🙂. If you ever fancy a change of scenery, look me up. Also, I've not heard the word "lorry" spoken for yonks😆. Love it!

Hi Jemma, just came across your channel and found it very interesting and true to life of a UK truck driver. I wish that the general populous saw this type of blog, that way perhaps, people would think more of truck drivers and what they have got to go through on a daily basis. It’s sad to say; that the service stations haven’t got any better over there (l’m now living in Aus, having been a truck driver in the UK for forty years). Very well done on your blind side reversing, don’t care what anyone says, it’s not an easy thing to pull off, without looking as if you’ve just passed your test. Keep up the good work.
