Being reluctant to play on scorespy when everyone else is playing on it, playing in the dark, hands being off camera. People will catch on to these things and be highly suspicious post-schmooey. People are gonna mention ScoreSpy/other protocols (which is fine), but just change the game engine already ffs too. It's objectively too loose and this proves yet again how people can meme-rake, slide, and quint spam their way into relevancy with no repercussions unless they fly to close to the sun for people to actually investigate them. It just muddies the water for people to actually find cheaters, because even with hyper-analyzing, you can barely tell what is even happening. Maybe I'm underestimating ScoreSpy, as I do trust it as the (hopefully) centralized platform all players can agree upon eventually, but I worry that top players will yet again find ways to fake at least a handful of accomplishments if need be.

@@venach1663 It's almost like the game is embarrassingly fundamentally flawed and that balancing the engine would result in forcing players to play more fluently, which in turn would make it much harder to cheat. Who would have guessed changing that would help? Also, I never said that's the *first* step the developers should make (hence why I said "too" afterwards), but rather it compliments having a centralized group of people verifying scores. Especially if push comes to shove, a player could perform in a live setting in front of people with 0 issues because it would be 10x easier to analyze live replays and matching the camera's inputs accordingly as well. I honestly think the problem is high FPS, not hit window. S6 trills chad raked are possible on precision mode, even with an 80ms window and no infinite front end. Something as simple as swapping from Wiitar to Xplorer makes Clone Hero a completely different game! Even if all ghosting is removed, no one can do trips as zigs and lots of top FC’s become impossible. We’ve made our loose engine bed, now we have to lie in it.

I was just talking in Frif’s chat yesterday about Ian being sus. A few people in chat reassured me that Ian reFC’d many of his best accomplishments on Scorespy to prove he was legit. That made me feel much better, as I didn’t want to go through another cheating scandal. Hopefully Ian’s cheating is only VSJ, and not every song with weird note counters. Edit: I just remembered that a few days before Schmooey was outed I asked Frif on stream how Schmooey was so good. He responded with “Well you have to consider that Schmooey is a robot.” I have no proof that this event happened, but it’s so weird to me that a comment I made in a Frif stream happened to be about inauthentic play right before the cheater was ousted. Not definitive proof, but in Supernovae Uber Solo E-F, there is a slight stutter just between solo E and F with the video quality of the score counter changing between the solos. It's a little blurry for E, much clearer for F. Doesn't happen anywhere else in the video. Considering other people were in the VC and saw it I hope this is seriously a coincidence, but given that other people have faked reactions, it could not be.

It sucks that this has happened again, but I’ve been saying this has been happening for months now. Ian has not only been reluctant to switch to scorespy, but has been using clone hero in all his top fcs. This doesn’t seem to make sense though as he plays scorespy off stream to claim top score. My biggest evidences to him cheating are syncing issues in certain songs, not streaming scorespy (could be using macros while streaming clone hero), discrepancies in methods used and timing on the hit window, very cringe and cocky reactions as of late, and then slowing the game down via cheat engine/speeding the cam up post section fc. Most of these allegations are speculation but it have evidence to prove that’s it’s been happening, at least as of recently. His methods just don’t seem to match up with what he is playing. His sliding is too effortless and I doubt we can drop that on purely overtapping alone.

btw, i have a reason to not play on scorespy, on the lastest ptb version my fps is like 900 - 1100, and on scorespy my fps is 400 - 700, and not to mention the amount of spike lag it has, idk what this devs are doing with the engine but they are fucking with the optimization. I spent a lot of time making my arduino to optimize my slide and fast sections, and playing with fps dropping to 400 is worthless

The cheat I am talking about is hardware mods to intentionally overtap only when you release a fret. This makes playing extremely fast patterns easy as fuck. You can often visibly SEE who does this as you can sometimes see the notes flicker after a note is released as well as the next trill in a fast trill section being hit automatically when the player releases the fret. This is something you can spot in a HUGE amount of top players videos if you start looking. It is so OP in fact that a mid tier spammer would become a top level tapper in less than a month if they learn to abuse this. This is no different than corking a bat or glueing a catcher's mitt. It's cheating and should be treated as such. Tons of top level players defend this by saying "it's no different than overstrumming and anyone can do it, so it's a level playing field.". First of all, overstrumming happens in more than 50% of all GHTars on the market naturally, so yeah that is a level playing field. OverTAPPING on the other hand happens extremely rarely. I have fixed and sold hundreds of guitars over the years and this is not something I have seen happen in a single guitar I have come across. It is that rare. And isn't it more difficult, more time consuming and more expensive to modify hardware to allow for gameplay otherwise impossible than it is to download a cheat or splicing videos? YES! So it's in fact much much WORSE than splicing, editing and downloading cheats. The only reason top level players defend this is because MANY OF THEM USE IT and they don't want to be exposed as cheaters. Some of the Arduino/mech fret guitar shops purposefully sell guitars with this as a feature at request behind the scenes after the method behind making consistent overtapping guitars was discovered a while ago. Watch out for ANYONE defending hardware overtapping. They either use it or have friends who do or their moral compass is completely wack.

As someone who tries to grind for certain songs outside of bleep bloops it bothers me i play songs pretty much that arent super hard for me like example guitar hero/rockband songs that have a song difficulty of 5 4 or 6 depending on the type of song

Wow. Now I definitely got bamboozled good with schmooey, while he seemed too good to be true, I didn't catch any of the signs of him being a cheater. I won't say the same with ian, but I will say I felt like something didn't seem right about his videos, so I got a vibe at least. It just makes you ask "why". The audacity especially AFTER what schmooey was caught doing is unreal. That said, unfortunately, this is legitimately unsurprising and that's just sad to say. It's just frustrating when I have to be on my guard in many cases these days instead of seeing someone do something and be super excited for them.

ok this is a very sad situation, in the past when i faked it, ian was the first one to notice and came to talk to me, this was one of the most important things that ever happened to me, since then i never faked anything anymore. I always felt something strange about ian, I always thought he wasn't 100% real, now it's proof that I was right. Judging by his scorepy, I can tell he's a very good player, but it's still a very sad situation. But I don't think Scorespy is perfect, I mean, the ptb runs at 1400fps, but Scorespy at 900fps, and when it has a lot of notes it goes to 500fps, which gives me real problems getting some notes, so I think Scorespy has a lot to work on before it's really viable for me to play a very fast song (like alex jones, wts song, keystone, prevail or something like that), not only me but many other brazilians who don't have such good pcs, like WilliamCH, Neurokiller, Chibaca, even GoulartGH himself.

Would be best if they can somehow decouple the event loop from the rendering itself, similar to how osu!lazer is built. Its event loop is fixed at 1000fps regardless of the frame rate, so your input will always be registered properly

This drama is basically almost an exact repeat of both Schmooey and the Trackmania player Riolu, history seems to always repeat. Like Riolu both Ian and Nimba have denied any accusations of cheating, although Riolu just basically went silent and left the Trackmania scene as well afterwards. Nimba was pretty bad anyway by straight up deleting his Soulless 6 FC video. They're still active in the community though, while Schmooey left the Clone Hero scene after his apology (it's unknown what his current status is as I haven't heard anything from him after his apology).
