Andy, I've had significant, almost crippling storm anxiety for about 20 years, you're the first person to actually sit down, talk about the weather, and explain it in a way that makes me comfortable. My restless leg actually stopped while watching, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to make these videos. I know live streaming for 14 hours straight is very taxing, but just know that it doesn't go unappreciated! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart 😁

I survived hurricane Betsy in 1965 in a hotel in New Orleans that was damaged really bad. The windows were all smashed and we were all forced into the soaked hallways. I`ve been in multiple very dangerous hurricanes, severe storms, straight line winds, and tornadoes since, and have been knocked unconscious by lightning twice and hit three times. We were without power for three weeks in unbearable heat in 2020 after hurricanes Laura and Delta and I`ve had two more very close calls with tornadoes. We don`t get many breaks from very dangerous weather here so I fully understand the anxiety thing. I`m terrified of tornadoes because they can happen just about any time here. We had over two dozen in my area several years ago over just a couple of weeks. It`s horrible to get a warning at night of a possible tornado or 70+ mph winds and then hearing your location in the possible path and the lights go out. What can you do when you live in a 5th wheel camper? You can`t really run away. So I keep a close eye on the weather and sometimes I`m forced to stay awake for long periods to be "ready." Back in December a tornado touched down about a mile to my southeast in a swampy area at 2am. I knew exactly what I was hearing for a full two minutes before NOAA issued the warning. No sleep for nearly four days...then a freezing storm came. Eight degrees and 35 mph winds and the power failed. I have solar power stations and used them to power an electric blanket. Killed my entire Winter garden and I`m on a small fixed income so no fresh greens, turnips, beets, and spinach this year. Somehow the lettuce survived but the friendly bunnies found it. I try to be very nice to the bunnies though in case I ever need them for food but for now we`re friends. LOL!

I live in just a rickety trailer so I get horrified every time I hear that there's going to be a big storm. I also moved here from California where I'm used to no weather so I take the threat of tornado very seriously. My husband says since the local ppl aren't worried I shouldn't be but that doesn't mean anything to me I still shake and freak out and wish he could stay home for big storm days just cause I know the chances of survival for me aren't great. Its nice to know I'm not alone in my storm anxiety, but im sorry you all feel horrified as well. I do appreciate how Andy says to have a movie night or make dessert that is a nice way to put it.

Andy, the way you're doing these videos is REALLY good from an info communications perspective. The pace is great, not overloaded with terminology and you explain concepts and data where it's helpful in ways that are super easy to remember. I especially like the part at 7:10 where you verbalize the time so the viewer can focus on the map's changes rather than having to watch both the map and the time marker changing. These little things really optimize how you're getting info across for us non-experts. Thanks for the info to plan for these next couple days, and also for the good news on springtime coming after!!

Same, my area got hit pretty bad last saturday. Hail so big and powerful that it punched holes into the exterior of my house. It's not so much the damage that bothers me, but rather how quickly the situation escalated. The storm was forecasted for Sunday in the general area surrounding Philadelphia, but it came a day early despite it being a pleasant spring day. My area went from sunny when we first got the tornado warning to within only 3 minutes from that violent winds, and 6 minutes later hail sized up to 1.5 cubic inches and flooding (I measured one from outside).
