I remembered when I saw a pedestrian countdown that was stuck at a zero. It confused me how much time I have to cross. So this time instead of fixing the count down on the pedestrian signal, they enabled the audible countdown on the pedestrian buttons which helped me remember how much time I have to cross. Usually in intersections without a pedestrian countdown timer, they use the audible countdown, but I’ve seen one audible countdown that hasn’t been disabled ever since they’ve added a crosswalk countdown to the pedestrian signal.

That's interesting. I've never actually heard an audible countdown in my area on pedestrian signals. The closest I've seen is in Fort Collins, Colorado; many of them will make a beep or a bird chirp when the "Walk" light is displayed, then quit when you can't cross... ALTHOUGH. Some of the push-buttons may have this feature... I haven't used them enough to know/remember if those lights have an audible countdown or not.

@@OptopolisExtra well, I have traveled around some parts of the US, including Canada, and I’ve heard the audible countdown before. I also don’t actually hear an audible countdown in my area.

@@Trafficlightsiosandmore That's interesting. I've traveled a little; I went to DC area, but didn't see any there either, at least back then. I feel like that'd be a nice feature for people who can't see so easily.

Never seen a malfunctioning signal like that one before.

Saw that too but the number is 0

This might not be a malfunction, but might be an incorrectly set DIP switch on the modules. Some pedestrian signal modules have switches on the back which can set the moduke to different modes, one of those modes often is being the segment test, which while set to that displays all digits continuously.

I'll be honest, I didn't think of that. Very well could be that the switch you mention was incorrectly set, nice catch. Would make complete sense to have such a mode as I can see where that'd be greatly useful!

One of my pedestrian signal countdowns has that option, so I figured it would make a lot of sense!

All the segments are stuck on!

Yep They are! It has been cold even before recording the video, so it's possible the cold caused it to finick, then just never went back to normal.

As a Filipino, I find it weird to see all of our pedestrian traffic lights/crosswalks malfunction.

I honestly haven't given a lot of thought lately to how often things like this happen. It's certainly not the most common thing ever from what I've seen!

@OptopolisExtra11 ай бұрын
@@DancewithJohnNLRaddy-761g It's possible. Probably come down to which is more cost effective - replacing it or repairing it... or if it is a programming issue, reprogramming it.

For those that have seen traffic lights malfunction before, what's the weirdest traffic light malfunction you've seen?
@leedaniels7196 Жыл бұрын
Weirdest light malfunction i’ve ever seen is all the traffic blinking at the same time and none changing.

@@OptopolisExtra Exactly!.Like when there’s a power outage.I’m not sure but i think they’re designed that way instead of not working at all.

@@leedaniels7196 Yep that's what I was gonna say, even almost the same words. I saw that happen to a light here in Cheyenne once. Haven't seen that happen in a long time though! In recent times, the power for thr lights seems to be completely out, making the lights not work at all.
