Another Turtle Attack!

The Batagur or royal river terrapin has been the victim of another turtle attack. The culprit is most likely the fly river turtle. As much as we keep building enclosures and new ponds and water features, it seems that there is never enough space to keep them safe!

Those fly rivers really need their own pond. They're just too aggro to be in close quarters with others. Ed should give you directions to start doing the ground work for the wetland pond, so you can have it dug out and shaped by the time he gets there.

Those fly river turtles are a menace and I personally wouldn’t care if they were not a part of the Kenan community. If Freda is going to be good in the big pond it seems like a quick fix without getting rid of the menace of the fly river turtles. I don’t believe fly river turtles are good with other species. Other video channels seem to keep them on their own.

This was due to the temporary setups. The front pond has nothing to do with it. As of right now, the turtles in the front pond are coexisting well. The issue was putting the fly rivers and Batagur together in the tubs.

Maybe the lily should go into the huge pond behind, that way the turtles can move back into their home. Maybe an unpopular opinion. But Kenan knows best

Not unpopular. Kenan should prioritize his turtles over plants. Should have held off on adding all those lillies to the rec pond until after he had a new home prepared for the large turtles! I hate seeing those large turtles in those blue tubs!

He rides the attractiveness of the aesthetic, he's not so much on the animal side of things like Jerry and others. Its a business. But at least he's not as bad as Jay prehistoric that guy is a complete jackwagon and kenan does know SOME things about turtles lol.

I agree. I visited prehistoric pets once and was appalled by the conditions and cages sizes. Kenan does a really nice job making comfortable and spacious enclosures for his animals. My only complaint about Kenan lately is despite his decades of experiences, he still makes regrettable decisions with predicable consequences. Things like not having a latch/lock on slinky’s warm box, keeping multiple male sulcatas together, not having a secure door between two breeding pairs of iguanas….the list goes on. Him introducing smaller sized turtles into caiman creek is one lately that’s been really disappointing me, he’s being irresponsible with the lives and well-being of these animals for a “cool factor”. He used to preach quality of quantity and I can’t help but feel that he’s lost touch with that a bit.

There are many reasons that people forget etc and he does the best for animal in everything else. Even the most experienced can make mistakes, however not often. The animals always have a quality of life with him. However I can’t comment on the smaller turtles into caiman creek as I don’t know much about the cohab of them Species, so would be wrong to side an opinion that . Have a good day.

I never liked keeping the large turtle in the tubs. I probably would have waited with adding lilies to the rec pond until after I had a proper new home built for the larger turtles! I would never prioritize plants over my turtles. I also would vote against putting the large female in the large pond. Not sure what you should do.

You have so much space in the large pond. But if your concerned about the big female or fly rivers. You could, on the north side, have a few aquatic pens. Similar to the way fisheries use to grow out fish.

The fly rivers were doing amazing for years in the smaller natural pond! What about digging another small pond for them so they can go back? Or sectioning off part of the large pond for them? That way they'll be easier to catch in winter :) 🌸🌻🦎🐢🐊

Here in local zoos on very hot days, they offer the animals what the szookeeper call icebombs. They put some food the animals like in a bucket (for big cats some meat, fish for seals, fruits andvegetables for monkeys and a bit of everything for bears etc.) fill it up with water and put it in a freezer. When everything is frozen solid they take it out of the bucket and give it to the animals. Would that work as enrichment for reptiles, especially montior lizards and the alligators and caimans? Never been to Florida, but i assume when it is really hot, that the ice melts fast enough to not do any cold damage to the animals.

I think they would do very well in the big pond. And if they don't come to you... you can do what you sometimes do... go fishing for them 😂. Would they do harm to a little swimming pool? I know they aren't beautiful but at least she and the other one could swim in there more freely. And it doesn't cost that much. At least not in Belgium. For 50 euro you can have one of 3,5 meter too 2 meter. Or one 3.5 meter, a round one. I don't know.... It's rather small these blue tubs... ❤❤❤

Why is that turtle not seeing a vet?? EXPOSED BONE?!!!!! You have someone put you in a pond knowing your pond mates are aggressive then when something happens YOU get medically ignore. Poor thing is probably in PAIN! Imagine the possible bone infection sooner or later! So disappointed in you.

@@crazy86753 i had a razorback musk mixed in with some common stinkpot musks and I was gone for a summer while my parents maintained my setup and when i got back the stinkpots had small bites taken out of the back of their shells. A couple weeks after separating then from the razorback they were healed up (albeit with permanent shell damage) but they lived together for 2 years before it started happening. I will never know why.

Canon for your tubs and your ponds you can add ghost shrimp to them and they'll eat theology you can also add otosinkless OTOCI NCLUS you don't sync with ELG off of rocks and off the glass or the walls of the tub and the shrimp will eat algae anywhere so by adding both of those to your tubs into your pond you keep much cleaner and the shrimp will be food for the turtles do you want to put in several hundred in each pond Is your turtles will eat them The ghost trip are cool because they tend to be translucent and are hard to find But knowing the turtles they will find them beneath them The I don't think those are pretty smart they avoid predators as best they can they have spines on the like catfish so they're hard to eat so most animals leave them alone There are ordinary sized ones and there's a jumbo version of the autocyclist would probably be better for your pause there's a bigger and they're harder to like kill and eat. so if you add both of those to your ponds and your tubs that one of your tubs might only want to put 50 or so of shrimp go shrimp in your tub each tub and maybe 10 or 15 of the auto sync with needs tough and then in the ponds depending on their size you want to start with new E-500 shrimp and 50 auto syncless That's for the moderate size obfuscate bills something like slunk he's got probably 250 shrimp and 25 auto sinklets should do it no I don't think it's from S America in ghost shrimp or from the Atlantic Coast and they can deal with racket water and I think they refer it for laying their eggs or having their babies But they will work in fresh water and lay babies get buried and produce offspring so I would definitely suggest out the shrimp first go shrimp and then test out the auto sync list and if it works then you can add more to the other ponds and stuff start with the tubs And to shrimp will make lots of babies so you can just scoop them up and put them into a new bond you do want to drift acclimate them put them in a container and drip water from the pond or the tub and let it trip into the container for about half an hour 20 minutes to half an hour that will give enough time to acclimate to the temperature and the water change and then you can just dump them in carefully
