He Got CONNED Buying FAKE Golf Equipment From TEMU!? When buying golf clubs you have to be so careful where you buy them from. Some people swear by buying golf clubs from ebay, others think the best deal on golf clubs would be buying the best second hand golf clubs, others want to buy from aliexpress or wish.com golf clubs... but a new phenomenon has dawned... buying golf clubs from Temu... is Temu the new Amazon? there are lots of KZbin videos claiming Temu will kill amazon... but surely if some of the things are fakes? then it doesn't help? do fake golf clubs really work? let's find out... and let's do it now!

My concern is just the price of the originals. I mean £50 for a Scotty Cameron grip is bonkers and hundreds for a putter cover. I've bought grips from TEMU and they seem fine. I play 10 or so times a year and it makes no sense to spend hundreds on grips when i don't even know if they're the right grips for me. I would never buy clubs or balls but peripherals yes because i personally think the main brands are taking the p with their prices. I mean it's not even close to regrip a set of clubs would cost you £150 or £30 through a company such as TEMU. However the issue here is buying second hand clubs and then them turning out to be fake i personally wouldn't buy much now from ebay etc i'd rather just stick with what i've got.

Fake (knock-offs) products only exist due to OVERpricing of brands that want to build a perception of "prestigeous". The term "You get what you pay for" doesn't hold true for many of the OVERpriced authentic brands either. That's why many of us favor VALUE brands, ie Costco, Takoma, etc, (and previously owned club stores) as James uncovers. Thanks for the ongoing insights James.

James, you make some excellent points in this video. I see a big different in "knockoff" equipment versus "fake". For example, the Super Newling Stripe golf ball that Gary did a review on a few days ago was great. It is NOT a Taylormade Tour Response but a "knockoff" version of it. They are not trying to fake out the customer, but it does make the game of golf more economical. I strongly agree with you that those who try to fake out consumers are bad for the game. That being said, I would love to see a video of you using "fake" clubs and comparing them to the real ones. Keep up the good work, and be a good host and please let Gary win a match on your channel😂

I bought a RBZ driver off ebay(new) when they first came out and used it for 2-2.5 years until one day I hit a shot off the heel and it made a strange noise ,on checking a crack had appeared were the face and sole join also when I removed shaft it was cracked and broken inside...took it to a local dealer to ask for advice and he informed me it was a fake, when comparing with a genuine the difference was hardly noticable (to me)The thing about it was it was the best driver I'd had to that point (long and forgiving)So having had it for the length of time I had wasn't to displeased (was well used as was playing 4or 5 games a week....Regarding the grips I buy the cheaper ones and change when needed some times can get 3 for price of one geuine....IMO the golf trade has become a rip off...

When I was looking for a new set of golf clubs back in 2009, I was shocked by how expensive new clubs cost! I couldn't afford putting out over $1000 USD for a set of irons. I found a set of irons I really liked in a "component manufacturer's" catalog, and since I worked in a retail golf pro shop in the 1990's, I knew how my clubs needed to be fit for me since I an 6'6". I already had some woods, but they gave me such a fantastic deal, I couldn't pass it up! When my clubs were finished, I was surprised, as they also gave me a very nice stand bag! I have enjoyed the heck out of them, and even though I am 66 years old now...I am carry an 11.2 index and still play from the normal ( around here the blue tees are for mid range handicapped players ).

About 12 or so years ago I accidentally bought a fake Scotty Cameron off eBay. I thought it seemed a bit off when it arrived. I had quite a few people try the putter without mentioning my suspicions. Nobody said they thought it was fake and always said it felt amazing off the face. I eventually took it into a golf store and compared it to the new Scotty's and realized right away it was fake.

I must respectfully disagree with your advice regarding golf grips. In my experience, the quality of the grips is a notable factor, especially when considering counterfeit products. To my surprise, these 'fakes' have proven to be exceptionally good. By purchasing grips in bulk, one can obtain new grips that last multiple seasons for less than £25. I personally change mine annually. Prior to experimenting with these replicas, I would spend in excess of £125 each year for similar grips. As someone with rather discerning tastes in golf equipment, I assure you, I've noticed no downsides in using the counterfeit ones. Therefore, I would advocate for the purchase of these imitation grips. Considering the substantial profits of major brands, one should not feel overly concerned about their loss of business. I suggest starting with a small order to identify a reliable supplier, then purchasing as needed. However, it's important to maintain honesty in transactions. If you sell equipment fitted with these counterfeit grips, inform the buyer of their true nature. This might slightly reduce the resale value, but probably less than you might expect. New grips, regardless of their authenticity, are still new. Nonetheless, deceiving a buyer into thinking they are purchasing genuine products is not only unethical but could also have repercussions, as astute golfers can often detect the imperfections instantly.

Some Temu brands do perform and are much cheaper. That is why videos like this one are so helpful. Figuring out which knock-offs are real bargains and which ones will only make your game worse is a challenge. Most of us understand that what is sold on Temu is mostly fake or a knock-off. But with golf equipment continually increasing in price, it is no wonder that most of us are looking for ways to save a few bucks. If the cheaper Temu stuff works effectively for the average golfer, why not purchase it? It might be a way for name brands to consider their pricing and create much-needed competition for overpriced equipment.

The DTC clubs and the ones I've gotten from eBay were all top-notch, but I'm not expecting much from the Temu stuff. I've felt the last couple of years that the grip manufacturers are charging and arm and a leg simply because they can. I feel even more strongly this way about grips that have been around for a very long time and the rubber recipe/tooling/manufacturing has been around so long that its ridiculous that they are charging 8-10+ dollars a grip. I don't buy direct knock off grips but I have moved to supporting Iomic and Karma grips for their price/quality ratio. Even with heavy use on my clubs I can regrip my entire set for under 50 bux every season if I want to but I have been getting 2-3 seasons out of the Karma grips (4-6 rounds per month plus range time). Dont get me wrong, I LOVE Lampkin and Golf Pride grips but its just getting silly. The sport is already expensive.

Found one an hour away. At $120 . Got home tried it and every shot went like a 3 hybrid. Checked the loft against my 5 hybrid and it was more like a 3 hybrid. Checked the lettering grip and it seemed fine. Could a 3 hybrid slipped by in quality control at TM? So I contacted TM Canada and they paid for shipping to inspect it. Low and behold the shaft on my club wasn't a shaft they used on those hybrids and the you lettering on head was a different font. I got screwed! The seller ghosted me . If 1 grip costs 10-13 for a consumer, and Titleist is buying 10000 from the same vendor, you can be sure they pay a fraction of the price, but still sell them for 50 a piece. I think the MCC Plus 4 Align Grips are around £ 15 per grip which is just ridiculous for a bit of rubber. I'm happy with the fake ones or there are also the Champkey, Tour-Dri ones which are not fakes but are clones of big brands. I've fitted a lot of grips over the years (100's of grips) and decided to swap out my iron grips last week. Looking into genuine Golfpride MCC Align Midsize via a reputable retailer and they were around £13 to £16/grip, and I needed 10, that's £130 - £160 plus P&P, not cheap at all!!!. I managed to buy 10 for £38 delivered, via a famous online auction. The first couple didn't fit the AMT irons butt dia well at all. It was as if the inner diameter of the grip was smaller/tighter than it should be....but I got there in the end. They feel good and played well on the irons. However, swing weight was massively off on my driver shaft and when weighing two exact same shafts (both MMT 60x callaway tip, same length) there was 20g difference in the shaft total weight between a 'dubious' yet cheap grip, and an original. 20g is a fair few swing weight points and total club weight, which can be the 'make or break' for a club fitting well or mysteriously playing like a dog. Great video guys.....I remember playing Woolley when it first opened 30+ years ago.....nice track.

Years ago I bought a set of Ping Rapture irons for the “too good to be true” price of $300. They were selling for about $1,000 in those days. The box came from Hong Kong in less than 5 days. Well, I opened the box and they looked real until I looked closely and noticed that the graphite shafts misspelled the word stiff as sitiff. Then I looked at the club heads and they were decals instead of the plastic badges. I was mortified. I called EBay right away and explained that I received fakes. They immediately created a case and refunded my $300 but not the $30 for shipping. They also said I can keep the clubs. They were playable not great. I also got a call that week from the Ping counterfeit department asking for details. They said they were going to aggressively go after the manufacturer of the fakes. Later that year I did buy the real Ping Rapture irons on clearance. They play very well plenty forgiving with a tight dispersion. I think they were the highest moi that Ping ever made. I still have them.

Hi, Tyler, founder of Jaxon Golf store here, with some inside info: 1. Scotty Cameron Grips are by far the largest mark-up in the entire golf industry: they're essentially Golf Pride or Winn grips with "Scotty Cameron" written on it; 2. I see so many counterfeits of the New Decade Multi-compound grip, and it's easy to spot them in the diameter of the butt end (usually narrower), differing patterns of texture and cords and the paint fill and etched letters all look very cheap and the solvent during installation causes the paint fill to fall out in these cheapos; 3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop buying pulled shafts off of eBay and asking me to install them...my guys, just pay the amount the shafts are worth and stop cheaping-out on something like this that is more often than not riddled with questions and inconsistencies.

The word worth is loaded. We all know the big golf companies make a LOT of money. I know they spend a lot of money as well but as you stated the Cameron grips for example are somewhat of a knockoff of the winn and some other grip that costs $20 but the Cameron's are $50+. So, is it "worth" it just bc it says a name on it? Again, we need places and people like you so it stands to reason as golfers we try to buy from the local brick and mortar shops but there is a point where the worth/value doesn't compute.

Budget grips on used name brand equipment. Unless you are logging 60 rounds a year you aren’t going to have a grip failure any time soon. Most of these Temu grips look to be seconds as they are extremely close to the original. I’ve went to the local name brand golf store and made comparisons the mcc4 grips are pretty much identical. Except for the 75% price difference.

I buy loads of golf clubs off of eBay. I’ve never bought a “new set” or new club. The major manufacturers are ridiculous with their pricing, so I typically buy clubs that a 2or 3 seasons old. I would not buy a new club off of eBay either. If there is not some wear on the item, I dont trust it.

I buy my grips from ebay ...mcc plus 4 ....on money back guarantee and usually can get 13 for between 70 and 90 dollars ....and the last ones I bought were 13 for 64.99 us and I was worried they might be fake but I had 2 new ones I know were not fake and when you put them side by side the ones I bought for 64.99 not only look better but even felt better after installing them ....but I wil say they did not have any weird smell ( usually dead give away) and after some research I found that they were real and the site I had purchased them from was actually and individual who worked at a golf shop ....and bought out a lot of grips that were 2019s and the shop restocked with 2023 ....the grip hasn't changed ....the shop had just sold out old stock due to the fact they had been on shelf for close to 5 years ....anyways have had them on for 6 months now and still look and feel new ....i do take care of my kit ....wash grips in light detergent (usually heavily diluted dish soap) ....and dry with towel about every couple rounds ...every round in warmer months living in the southern US....because of the sweat from humidity....I also recently bought a new pistol grip 2.0 super stroke that was 15 us ....and it was same deal 2020 model ....but as I said on ebay I always look for the money back guarantee....and if I ever do ...and sure will buy a fake I will return it....have bought several driver heads and clubs off ebay ....but usually only if it has a serial number ....best advice if it seems to good to he true ....probably is ....or at least do as much research on the seller as possible ...

They were reported as a scam last year. The only deal I got was the humming bird 72 degree wedge. I don't play it often but had for a year. The lesson is if it's too good to be true it most likely a scam.

Purchased a Cleveland Huntington Beach putter for $35/delivered in "bargain" condition. Arrived in outstanding condition, took it to the local Edwin Watts and they confirmed it was legit. Purchased a couple Ping hybrids, driver, & 4 wood and each arrived in better condition than advertised. Kind of like the $500 challenge 👍 Unfortunately, in the past several years, pricing has escalated. My option now is to visit the Edwin Watts every couple weeks to see what's been traded. Have picked up a Ping & Yes! putter, Calloway and Cleveland wedges for $20 apiece all in good to great condition.

I bought a an extra large putter grip from TEMO for $8. It’s awesome and has improved my putting remarkably. If it wears out in 6 months or a year, so what? I’ll buy another one for $8. I’ve had the grip on my putter for 2 months now with no sign of wear, cracking, discoloration, anything. Wouldn’t buy golf clubs but for grips I’m on board.

If the original manufacturers were more reasonable in their prices, these "fake" options wouldn't be as popular. In Australia, when the latest clubs were released from the likes of TaylorMade and Callaway for example, the drivers were retailing for around $1,100 AUD (670 Euro) mark each. New Titleist Pro V1 balls going for around $90 AUD (55 Euro) for a box of 12. With the next generations due at anytime, these are now on "special" for only $800-$850 AUD (485-520 Euro). With retail prices like these, anything golf related that has more reasonable pricing will be very popular and get snapped up quickly. At a time when the game of golf is experiencing unprecedented popularity, it certainly feels like the manufacturers are taking advantage of us.

Bought fake golf pride compound grips off of eBay knowing they were fake, cost £30 for 13. Put them all on my clubs and can't complain they're pretty good. Way cheaper than actual golf pride grips and they're not much worse, but then again im a casual golfer maybe around 18 handicap. Best part about it is I messaged the seller telling them they're rubbish and I got a 75% refund and got to keep the grip as they didn't want a bad review !

I had a set of ebay multi compound plus 4s come thru. Biggest issue was they weren't plus anything. They were anywhere from 47 to 55 grams and smelled like strait acetone. The cords were a little slick so I scuffed them up and they lasted better than the real ones. The rubber isn't as soft as gp but honestly for 13 Grips and 50 bones you could definitely do worse, just know what you're buying.

I buy my tees and golf gloves from temu. I was genuinely impressed with the golf gloves. I have been on the same glove for 8 rounds so far and it is holding up just fine. The tees perform just like any other but literally a fraction of the price. Also have got divot tools, and club brushes from Temu. Oh and spineless golf shoes. And I mean GOOD LOOKING golf shoes. I bought 3 pair for like $20 bucks. Holding up just fine. As I'm typing this I'm remembering other gold related equipment I have bought off there. A shag bag, a chipping net, and a ball retriever. Everything has been awesome to be completely honest. Never pulled the trigger on buying balls from there though, or actual equipment that is used to "play". Overall happy with my purchases

I've bought some cheap chinese products, not fakes per se, but cheap knock offs and found them to be worth what I paid for them. They were Lego copies but not branded as Lego. They were identical in every way with perhaps a small difference in quality though I'm not even sure of that. They were things I simply would not buy at Lego's prices. I think that's what many people who buy these products are looking for.

I bought fake grips from Temu. They were better than expected. I did grip my driver with a real Golf Pride grip. Holding them next to each other you could barely tell. The Golf Pride logo was a slight bit larger / thicker on the fake and there were no markings under the line at the bottom of the grip. The cord seems to be slightly more aggressive but I actually like that. Also I don’t feel bad not buying real Golf Pride grips. $12 each ? Shame on them.

there is no excuse for supporting/buyer forgers. If one wants to buy inexpensive equipment, balls or accessories, there are options (pre-owned, Costco, Decathlon, direct to consumer brands). Doing business with companies that are misrepresenting what they are selling is wrong from several standpoints: they are lying to you, the product (as you point out) is worthless for resale, and they are cheating the companies that built the real product out of the equity they built by innovation, quality control, and risking their capital to survive in a difficult industry. It is difficult to tell on line (grip for example, when you can’t feel the texture, inspect the printing, feel the weight or smell- the real way to know fakes), but if the price is too good to be true, assume it’s fake. And fake cheats the buyer, the company being counterfeited, and other buyers who have a chance to get taken advantage because others kept the frauds in business. I do hope that you, JR, comes out stronger against counterfeiters. There is no two sides, IMO.

Bought a set of 13 golf pride tour wrap white grips. My first purchase so the whole set was like $8 US. After getting them they look and feel the same. However, once I put them on my clubs they stain up easily. I figured they were fake just bc of the price but had to try lol. It is weird bc they feel fine and don't have any weird smells like a "normal" counterfeit.
