This was one of my mom's favorite soap operas (followed by The Doctors, Days, and Ryan's Hope) when I was growing up. I like the 96-99 theme intro the best. Miss you mom (RIP)😇❤🙏!

1987- 1996 is the period that I literally grew up with from elementary to my high school graduation of watching with my mom during the summer, sick days, skip days and holidays during my formative years. Because of Another World I am the classy based rich white woman in my head that many come to know me for. 😂😂😂

There was also a short lived opening from 1987. It was identical to the 1981-86 opening except the music played was the last part of the 1987-96 theme.

I remember the last one would get me so excited every day when I watched the show and I'd have fun trying to name all the actors' (not the characters! That would have been too easy! Haha!) names as they flashed across the screen. That opening was amazing. Loved it! Thank you so much for this.

I miss Another World, I wasn't able to always watch it like I wanted to because school, but just the opening intro alone, always had me hooked whenever I did get the opportunity to watch it. I miss this soap and wish there was a way to access all 8,800+ episodes of Another World. 😞

I've NEVER watched an episode of this showin my life but on the days I was home sick from school after my mom watched DOOL I literally waited until the credits were over just to sing the corny AW theme song...I LOVED IT! 1987-1996😝

My two favorite Another World openings are the 87-96 and the 96-99 and AW was the only NBC daytime drama I watched

My favorite AW opening is the 1987-1996/1996-1999 opens as I was alive when those themes were used (I was born in 1992 when the 1991 update of You Take Me Away was being used.

Man, the 81-87 intro is the most 80s intro ever, and the 96-99 intro is the most late 90s intro ever (it reminds me of ER and The Pretender).

Great intro. I prefer the 1981-87 with the zooming interlocking rings symbolizing the soap looking towards the future in the 1980s. The last intro during Another World's final run looks like a cross between ER and Melrose Place.

I didn't like the last opening at first. I had grown up on the other one, and hated that I wasn't going to see it anymore. I felt betrayed. Of all the soap openings AW's was my favorite, and then they changed it to try to make it cool and modern. I grew to like that opening, but the previous one is still the best.

You missed the transitional variant used for about six months in 1987 that features the short version of the 1981 intro but with the instrumental "You take me away" theme. Late 1986 and early 1987 episodes also featured a shortened form of the 1981 intro. There was also a different theme heard in late 1960s/early '70s episodes for the second intro.

This is great BUT the theme from 68 to 74 was left out. To hear it just look up an episode from 74 here on KZbin.

The last one was the best, I enjoyed the dramatic music opening, the music and pictures theme shots on Another World was awesome!!! Like bang bang bang bang then the music started. When another world played every day at 3 o'clock in Canada I swear traffic was liter we had Sunday marathons in bars for god sake!! I believe it's cause our Canadian network only played aw for a soap from 64 till about 77 so when u only have one or two channels it became an institution right up til the day it got cancelled trust me if it were based on Canadian ratings it would have been as high as Dallas in the ratings!!

Soaps are a never ending cycle of affairs, secrets, and all sorts of melodrama. You don't have to know the back history of these programs. Watch a few episodes in a row and you catch up pretty quickly as to what's going on........

Agree. They were trying desperately to bring in a young audience. Did they have a storyline complete with an apartment building filled with young people? They were trying to go for the BH 90210 fan base.

My favorite openings are the first with no sound, the 1970s one, and the Crystal Gayle one. The early 80s one was a little tacky and the final one was cool but Jill Farren Phelps wanted AW to be ER so badly that I just can't give it any snaps up.

I didn't like any of the music in the opening of Another World except for the last one as P&G redid all there soaps intro music in 1981 (Edge of Night was done in 1980) and jazzed up a lot of them and AW was never jazzed up. Just were boring themes except for the last one in 1996
