Just giving you my experience. When you go to a country you're not aware of and you don't know too many people, and you want to play safe. Buy a dummy phone, prepaid phone whatever. I carry a dummy wallet full of dummy money. Save my butt once when somebody was trying to rob me with a knife through the wallet with the money. He was looking at the wallet on the floor with money and I ran. By the time he figured out that the wallet had dummy money, I was gone. Your real phone with all your crypto and finance, don't take that with you when you go to bars. It'll get stolen, keep it at the hotel locked and safe or hidden. I've been in many times when I was in a restaurant and somebody stole my phone because they thought I was a gringo.

I have been mugged more than 3 times, my family has been kidnapped (they only stole money and didn't hurt anyone, fortunately). There was once a time when my colleague didn't return money that I lent them, and when I questioned them about it, they got angry. What's worse is that many criminals use their money to buy drugs. I heard of a case where an elderly man lost all his belongings, including his documents, because of the mugging and is now living on the streets. I was born in Rio but have lived in NYC for the past 22 years. I have never been robbed in Rio. I was robbed in NYC ( Coney Island to be exact), while I held my baby. I was able to track my phone down, I knew where it was and the NYPD officers completely ignored me and pretty much told me to keep it moving. This could happen in any major city. Any city, really. Sounds like a situation that occured a little while back. If this is the same story, one of my friends here was one of the guys drugged by the girls from Pedra do Sal. It was 3 girls so they couldn't keep an eye on all of them sufficiently. The one girl was aggressive about going back to his place. He said the flags were there, but being at Pedra do Sal and having a few drinks clouded his senses. Pedra do Sal is not really known for being a place to pick up P4P situations, so you might think she's not on that. Right now, they doing a lot of drugging, so brothers gotta think twice and be careful. I been here 6 years and I don't see the value in picking up chicks that way. Most of the ones I know have hangups and issues. Seeing the pretty side that pulls up to the beach will fool you. I've seen them at home and dealing with their problems and issues. It ain't pretty. We was just on the beach today with plenty, plenty super fine girls showing up and presenting themselves. I left like Denzel said "Before the Devil get here". The beauty don't phase me because I know what come with it. I'll pass. Y'all be safe tho.

You get invites to birthday parties and other things and if you have a good reputation, you eventually get a WhatsApp about a friend that wanna holler at you. That's the way to meet women that you may consider for relationships. Other than that, you meet them on the beaches but more than likely she's going to be p4p if she's super interested at a level that seems to good to be true. The women that have a head on their shoulders aren't walking around on the beach free. They work 6x1 - 6 days on and 1 day off. If she's out there in the middle of the week, she's most likely unemployed. Biggest thing is to just be cool and meet real people. The beaches are probably not that place unless they are clearly with family and friends.

When I met women in Colombia, I'd meet them in a public place like a mall, never at your place or hers, especially if you don't really know her. In Colombia there are hotel and motel rooms you can rent by the hour if you want to get intimate. Nothing out of the ordinary. Locals tend to live with parents until they get married, so renting a room gives them some privacy. It's very much the same in Brazil. A lot of beautiful will use their looks to make easy money. This is nothing new , I believe i know the guy that you're talking about , with 3 years living in Rio. i can see how this can happen , but you can control this situation if you feel uncomfortable about a place . Just leave !!! When I moved here, I heard about Lappa , i went over during the day to see what was going on there , I'm believe me , I was shocked, i said to myself, how can people " American can come here ?" The place is super Scarie!!! I know it must be fun , but i can see it's super dangerous. Also, when I moved here , I triple check where I was going to live , i noticed all the Turist areas " Copacabana, Lebron, Ipanema, are the dangerous areas , for a reason Turist !!!!!! So I moved to a quieter area and was not as expensive and with more security and luxurious places , I live in 3 bedrooms , 3 bathrooms apartment , with a huge pool , and all the accommodation that you can imagine , 24 hours security, I might not have all the craziness that you get from copacabana, but I rather live here , and i know I'll be secure and happy , I do go a lot to Copacabana, but just to eat and walk a little bit around . I live very near the ocean and I'm happy . I can only say, " Used a common sense , dont be a pray !!!!
