@trumpetaceman78063 жыл бұрын
He is literally the best brass player to ever live . Trumpet repertoire was too easy he plays cello concertos
@artvandelay80903 жыл бұрын
Wrong. He can only play one style and he doesn't have the range to play the Brandenburg No. 2, or to do any kind of big band lead playing or commercial screaming. He's the best at articulation. Being a great double and triple tonguer doesn't make someone the best at everything. Don't get crazy with it, for cryin' out loud.
@trumpetaceman78063 жыл бұрын
@@artvandelay8090 He has the most clarity out of any other trumpeter. And it is true he plays one style. But others can’t circular breathe while double tonging or triple tonguing. Others can’t jump intervals like him. I’m 100% sure he can play the Brandenburg 2 if he tried he did a bit of piccolo playing. Also the other musicians who you compared him with weren’t soloists with orchestras at 12 years old or selling thousands and thousands of albums in their teens.
@artvandelay80903 жыл бұрын
@@trumpetaceman7806 If he could play Brandenburg No. 2, he would and he would have recorded it. But he hasn't. You know why? It's 'cause he can't. Everyone who can play it, plays it. It's a rite of passage in the classical world. And I'm not impressed by circular breathing and diarrhea of the notes. There's this thing in music called "phrasing." Run on notes ad nauseum with an absence of phrasing is just downright unmusical. Yes, all of his fancy articulations and big interval jumps are acrobatic and impressive........for a few minutes. After a while, it's as boring as all get-out.
@artvandelay80903 жыл бұрын
@@trumpetaceman7806 And another thing -- There's a video on KZbin of Sergei playing "Carnival of Venice" with its theme and variations. The end of that composition is iconic with a two-octave scalewise progression up to high F. Every great trumpet player who has ever played that composition has played that final passage up to the high F---except for Sergei. You know why? It's because he CAN'T. Ruben Simeo used to go up to that high F back when he was 8 years old. So just think, Sergei is what, in his 40s? He's been playing trumpet for a long time and yet, an 8-YEAR-OLD kid has a better range than has Sergei. And you consider him the greatest? Naah, not by a longshot. Playing high might not be EVERYTHING, but if someone is the greatest in the world, then he can do it all, including playing high. It's gotten to the point that every time I click to hear something by Sergei he goes right into all of that run-on ad-nauseum multiple tonguing crap with the takatakatakatakatakatakataka bup pah dup pah duh and I just want to say, aaaah, SHUT-UP! Sometimes you just want to hear someone go soaring up into the stratosphere with something high, wide, and wonderful playing lyrical, beautiful, and emotionally moving. That's just something that Sergei cannot do. He's too one-dimensional. He would sound ridiculous trying to play jazz. And even though he's a classical player, he can't even play all of he classical repertoire as I've already mentioned. So if you want to talk about the greatest trumpet player on the face of the earth, the word, "versatility" has to be among the qualifying criteria. And with that said, there is only one clear answer. It's hands-down, slam-dunk, the one and only, Doc Severinsen.

ALL has to do with concentration and playing the center of every single note. Sounds easy and actually is except for the fact that no other player on the planet has agreed to put in the kind of disciplined work that Sergei has. Nothing here is too high, or too fast that can't be solved with supreme focus. Check out 3:00...I was just off stage listening to him play this at ITG in Miami...it DOES NOT STOP...I hugged him immediately afterward and thanked him for being such a beacon of talent. He thanked me but looked a little confused. Ladies and gentlemen, this is is because Sergei Nakariakov focuses only on the moment at hand. That stage moment was over and that is why he is so good. If more trumpet players would do that, they would improve...if they did it a lot, they would improve immensely. Sergei simply does not let mistakes go by when practicing. I have sat beside him backstage and on stage and his level of relaxed concentration is the ticket...I'm sure your horns are great and only help make Sergei's job even easier!!!

jens lindemann Thanks a lot Jens, I totally agree about Sergei, but this is Antonio Rapacciuolo, the guy behind AR Resonance Trumpets. Adam Rapa’s things are made to look like my trumpets on purpose and this is causing a lot of problems because people think my trumpets, played by some of the best players on this planet, are his trumpets. I design, prototype, test and actually make my trumpets and mouthpieces. This can’t be said of Rapa’s things. Next time we’ll meet I’ll be happy to make you try my horns. :) (I was there at the ITG watching Sergei playing that crazy piece of music)

In his interviews Sergei's talked about how he double/triple tongues while circular breathing by replacing the "k" with a softer consonant -- with something like a "h."
