I would like to share my own investing journey. One bag holding example that turned to riches for me was in the uranium sector. I first bought in the early 2010s, and the bear market continue on for another decade, even though the fundamentals kept improving. After Covid till date, uranium sector had suddenly became the flavour of the day and my returns over the last 13 years of holding has a CAGR of 15-20%. Sometimes we just need patience and give our holdings time to play out. Because of social media, people start comparing and become very impatient. One need to really differentiate between trading and investing and exercise risk management.

The share buyback from baba is at 80hkd. It can continue to drop back to 78-80 range. Furthermore, baba wants to issue bonds to repay their existing debts and increase share buyback. For this, can only say 78-80hkd is the possible strong support. But I am also fearful, sold 1/2 of my baba first to divest to link reits since there are still dividend collection while waiting for recovery. But baba is like boat coming back, the dividend only 1+%. Most of the baba retail investors do not hold long term, mostly on intradays. Michael burry and David tepper bought baba at 100+usd, they also got in at wrong timing. Question is still portfolios management, do not put all eggs in the same basket.

Halfway into the vdo on what you mentioned it would seem that recent 90 to 115 range is the zone where traders dumped Baba for profits, and bagholders liquidate full/portions of Baba for cash. Perhaps those still holding might wanna considering selling portions into that zone when it recurs, take cash and buy at 70-80 zone. In this manner, one can average down holding cost of baba without forking out more money.. Just my 2c 😁

To be fair we were right about many things but also wrong about some things like the great China FOMO sale, Trump re-triggering inflation, selling banks and buying REITS, etc. No one can accurately predict short term price movements. Just pick good companies with long term growth potential and price catalysts, then sit and wait, while diversifying and avoiding concentration risk. This is value investing, not trading. Even professionals can pick correctly and still lose money.

so far i using webull tiger moo longbridge these 4 discount brokers, only tiger charging me like $2 quarterly custodian fees (if no trade made that quarter) for sgx account. HK market none charging custodian fees I am borrowing in HKD on webull/tiger/moo and they are charging 6.8% interest on the the margin account, I believe I can generate long term returns above that amount (10-20% or higher) so I am ok to pay such an interest cost but unfortunately 9988 has not been performing

regarding to the cost of your stock there are many selection on the app like FIFO (first in first out), Average (simplest) Diluted/Adjust (will add in the above cost that you mentioned) I usually display or refer to my diluted adjusted cost

Haha.. he talked so much about this bond issuance in this video already laa. Basically, baba has a lot of onshore RMB. Can’t use them for share buybacks as need offshore RMB or USD for the USA ADR share buybacks. Hence, it totally makes sense to issue bonds to get usd to do share buybacks when prices are low. I m happy as a shareholder to see this.

Stock price is impossible to predict. How much can one lose, if you put 100K, you can lose 100K, and if you put 1 M, you can lose 1M ( so all the stock price prediction is same as going to a gambling table… 50-50). For Baba and other stock, I find the wisdom of seeing wet paint dry very applicable… Anyway for content creation, such emotions from participants is actually very useful. If they cannot sleep ask them sell all and move on.. mental health more important.. take care ya 🫡
