Hi, I’m still a little confused and id hide like to know this. So we aren’t aloud to wear bras or underwear? If we are on our period will we be aloud to bring pads and underwear? This depends on where you're at! Especially different countries differ, but sometimes even just wards have different rules already. I had my phone, charger, stuffies, shoes with laces, hoodies with strings and even my cactus. (Even though I was high-risk.) My recomendation is to bring the stuff you need, if it isn't allowed they will just lock it up.

You can bring t shirts, leggings, underwear, non-electric toothbrushes, sports bras, full length pajama pants with the strings cut out, sweaters, any hygiene products without alcohol in the first 3 ingredients, paper back books, printed pictures of family or pets, and depending on your health needs, a blanket. If you’re going to a residential treatment center they usually have less restrictive rules on what items you can have. This is just what I know about in the US, of course.

Not allowed in most (mine was like that too) but sometimes you can come in with it already tied and they’ll let you keep it or throw it away or keep it so you don’t “choke your self”

so nothing that makes people feel like themselves... i get its for safety but people often feel more comfortable when they have somethign that makes them feel like themselves, and feeling comfortable helps with recovery

I've been to psychiatric hospitals both voluntary and forced both as a teen and as an adult, and I've never heard about this. The US rules seemed harsh in general! Some rules were obvs, like belts, laces, lighters, hair spray, cords, razors and stuff like that (esp for involuntary/forced stays). Other rules however like no tampons, underwear, phones, stuffed animals, pillows, tank tops, bras and such seems excessive (depending on why they're there ofc, but still).

Im just guessing but maybe its to prevent bacterial infection if a tampon is forgotten while its still in use? Maybe if someone is in really bad shape they forget to take it out and then get sick because of it
