The tips they showed on how to solve the questions is a one-way street to the most ineffective way of studying a language seriously. Later on they’ll just know how to solve problems without actually using the language to communicate...

Totally agree... They are only learning how to take a test and not actually learning how to speak the language fluently. That is why a lot of Koreans run into the problem of not knowing how to communicate in English verbally with fluent English speakers.

I think its because their concern in this episode is to take exam in listening and reading not in speaking or writing. Hope they can make new episode about learning how to speaking and writing english.

because in korea passing the test is actually much more important than learning english. Most english natives would even fail their tests because of the way they are made.
@tamtruong12254 жыл бұрын
@@loomkkoom Thank you for letting me know. Actually, as an Asian myself, i'm very well aware of that situation, in which students study specifically for tests and tests only. I think most people agree that this learning style for such testing system is a problem that should be addressed and resolved. However, instead of showing better ways to learn languages, what they do is normalizing the problem, making it socially accepted on national TV with prominent MCs that is fine to study simply for the test. Over the time, language learners will memorize grammar structure by heart while having trouble communicating, which is the sole reason you learn a language for.

Wow this is definately learning english to take a test, not to speak english fluently...the same way my teacher teach me at school, I have a great score in english but when someone ask me to speak my mouth stuck and brain stop working that's the effect of this method....in the end I just watch some video on youtube with my language sub, and than to eng sub, and than without sub...practice in front of mirror and try to speak in english...I don't really understand the purpose of teaching english in school is for taking a test or speaking english in daily life tho, and I also saw a video I forget the tittle bcs it's long time ago but an elite korean student that got perfect score in english can't speak english as good as their score too so I think i'm not alone in this aspect hhaha

Lmao you are not alone.. I always have difficulties in speaking english even if my English grade is good.. Somehow English at school only teach us how to do the test but not how to speak english fluently.. I always have low confident to talk in english but feel comfortable writing in English instead.. When I need to do presentation I always say hmm and ahh and also pausing for a moment to think of the next words in english.. It’s like my brain freeze when I talk in English lol

Minx Bella i feel like most schools don’t teach languages correctly. they just want you to be able to take tests, and they don’t care if you actually learn or not. i feel like a very simple and underrated way of learning english is watching english shows and movies. watch a english movie with subtitles in your native language. then watch again with english subtitles, and then to see how much you understood watch it again with no subtitles. but as a native english speaker i can assure you that your english is very good! :)

I disagree with the so-called expert they consult :(. Sadly, he obviously focuses purely on just getting a high score while totally trashing actual learning. What Jaesuk and the others point out (writing) as something that helps them is actually scientifically proven to be something that triggers the brain to literally work! Writing notes by hand truly does help a person remember things and learn, whereas simply typing things is not quite as effective. And that works for learning absolutely anything, not just a second language.

@redfullmoon4 жыл бұрын
@@Ayshun525 if you're referring to a specific one, you don't say "A research" you say instead "A research STUDY has shown" or if the study has previously been referred to, "THE research has shown...". Research itself is the act of researching, which is uncountable and always definite, so therefore cannot be defined with an indefinite article like "A".

They all need to start somewhere. Dissecting the sentence and understanding its pattern are important too. It will help them with comprehension. It is up to them to expand their learning. Since immersion is almost impossible due to the nature of their job, watching English films is an A+ factor. As for speaking it, they need to practice amongst themselves or better yet practice in front of a mirror, watch how they speak - employing all facial muscles. Reading is important too! Good job to the show for helping their peeps to do well in English. It is about time.

After studying language in a classroom if you really want to learn to speak fluently in a new language, go live with native speakers for a month or so. Do not speak your language at all for that time period. If you hear something that you don't understand, ask about it.
