What are your opinions on the various schools of economic thought? I'm particularly fond of Austrian and Behavioural Economics (with a little institutional econ thrown in). As an Economics graduate I found that some of the Neo-Classical theory was based on poor assumptions!

How many people have you interviewed who have a degree in economics? Perhaps invite people with a degree in economics to be interviewed by you on this channel, in videos that would be exclusively that. Maybe make it a series on it's own so anytime you find someone new to interview you can add to the playlist. Perhaps it will be difficult to find enough people who are willing to be interviewed about their educational and employment history on the internet though, but if you can this might help to dispell the myth that there aren't many career opportunities for economists/econ majors. I for one would be interested to see how many double majored and I am, and it sounds like others might be, interested to see how they got their start after graduating, like did they have an internship.

One little tid bit about econometrics and or statistics. Once I wanted to take a chemistry class and there was one open seat so I showed up to the class ready to be signed on by the instructor and said instructor told me this; Statistics show that people who sign up the day of do not complete the class. I was dismissed and refused. Another time I heard an advisor to an advisor tell me, statistics show that if this class is not taken within the first semester or two, the person does not complete the program. So said student is put into a statistical box and not allowed to pursue her intended education per se. Said student decided on a degree in Philosophy which did put her in a 4.0 status. After pursuits to specific BA's, currently having eliminated all majors that put people in statistical categorical boxes and decided upon economics instead. I feel really good about my choice and if the world is better for me not being a nurse or teacher - so be it, but I at least tried. Viewing these videos enhances my security within the major and it is my belief anyone can contribute to the prosperity of a plate without being deemed heated spinach because at least it is good for the body. Anyway, the point is if you are a statistics person and decide a categorical box is good for a predictive pedestal, then calculate the chances of overcoming a success so the added spice can make a difference. That's all. Usually, when something like this happens it is like ecolalia in repeated redundancy with living by concrete evidence with an improbable future because you wanted to be 100% and we all know that miracles can equate to 200% or better. Do not put people in statistical categorical boxes, please. Not you but those who do. I am looking forward to pursuing economics and those things that build credible equity for possible economic success.

I think getting a Bsc in economics is way better than getting a BA in economics because of the finance and management courses that are found in a bsc than a BA which has no finance or management courses
@nathanflanery77466 күн бұрын
YES! Although a BS in Business Administration Economics (B.S.B.A. in Economics) is a MUCH more marketable degree. Why? Because almost ALL of the jobs that will take a BA in econ prefer 1) Accounting major and 2) Finance major. If they can't find someone with an accounting degree, they move to someone with a finance degree. If they can't find someone with a finance degree, then they look at people with econ degrees. There are almost NO jobs that prefer a BA in econ over a B.S.B.A. in accounting or finance. At least with a B.S.B.A. in Econ you are "in the ballpark" with accounting and finance majors. But the most important thing these days is simply getting through the job filters. I had my resume posted on all the major job search engines for 2 years with my degree selected as "Economics" because the B.S.B.A. in Economics is so rare nobody has it listed as a "drop-down box." I got almost NO calls or interested employers even with my 3.93GPA. But since it is a Business Administration degree, I was able to honestly change it to "Business Administration" instead of "Economics" and I started getting TONS of calls!!! If you do a BA or BS in Economics, (even if you do take accounting, finance, management, business law, marketing, and information systems) you will have to lie about your degree to get through the filters by saying you have a business degree and explain it in your cover letter. And if you DON'T take all those core business courses that Accounting and Finance majors take, then you're just SOL because businesses want people with business degrees. That is why MBAs have become so popular. If you have a plain, non-business, BA in econ; your best bet is to get an MBA, so you have the business background businesses want.
