You guys have some great content about Switzerland. I work in Marketing and I'm considering moving to Switzerland or the UK next year (I already lived in the UK from 2015 to 2020, great work opportunities) and I've been watching some of your videos to help me decide which country is the best one for my family and myself. So far I'm still not sure, but thanks for producing this great content!

Hi! Thanks for the kind words. 😊 It's a difficult choice to make, good luck with whichever move you decide to make! For us, personally, currently Switzerland seems like a more stable place comparing to the UK. 😅

guys, you are awesome! I love how your "scientific approach" shows itself even in videos about this kind of stuff with acknowledgment of biases and looking up statistics. Keep on rockin' and DFTBA!

Regarding the wealth in Switzerland you need to consider that this usually includes pension funds and that is a huge chunk. As there is a mandatory private pension fund system (which is personal, in addition to the mandatory governmental one which is socialized) which is payed into by the worker and the employer. This usually amounts to personal savings of 500'000 to well over 1'000'000 CHF even for quite regular jobs. The winters have changed a lot in Switzerland in the last 40 years. In Switzerland climate change leads to about twice the warming as in the global average. E.g. the snow cover height has risen 600 m, i.e. the snow cover we had on 400 m (e.g. the elevation of lake Zurich) you will find nowadays on 1000 m (i.e. in the mountains). In my childhood a 20-30 cm quite permanent snow cover was usual in the low lying parts of Switzerland. E.g. the parking lot of my school was converted into a skating track just by sprinkling water on it from November to February, what seems ridiculous today (the temperatures are just not low enough). I would agree that average food in Restaurants is actually not really that great, considering the prices. Great observations.

Thanks a lot for sharing your insights! 👍 Ah yes, you're right about the pensions! Especially considering many people pay into 3rd pillar as well, I can see how those pension funds can accumulate a good amount of money. We should've mentioned that in the video. Oh wow! I didn't realise how much change has happened to the climate of cities by the lakes. Although now thinking about it, here in the Jura we have many places where they still have all the skiing infrastructure, which hasn't been used for years now, since the winters aren't snowy enough anymore. 😕 And it's not looking very optimistic for the future...

It's possible to save plenty of money in Switzerland, especially with 2 earners and the Pensionskasse.

Really great video! I totally agree with your point of view :) Special point for the outro (12:59) xD For a "Part II video", what about "délation" or denunciation in Switzerland ? ;-)

I'm a little embarrassed that I really didn't have any particular assumptions about Switzerland because I didn't research it before I moved here. I had visited a few times for work or vacation places like Bern, Basel, Buonas (Roche Forum), etc. but I was just having a good time or busy with work (on expense account), so I didn't pay attention to anything!

I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about. 😊 In a way it's good that you could move here without having any potentially negative thoughts or assumptions. Sort of start with a clean slate, if you know what I mean.

It can also be difficult to make friends in the UK. As for the food well coming from France the UK food is kind of blend🤣🤣🤣

food isn't 3x more expensive. basic food items are pretty cheap (especially from the discounters like aldi, lidl and denner, but also at migros/coop you can find cheap (and good) products (m-budget, prix garantie). swiss meat is 3x that expensive, that might be true (but for that you get a higher quality with a stricter animal welfare). quality meat isn't cheap, not in germany nor in the uk. except that, too much meat isn't healthy anyway.
@OurSwissAdventure2 жыл бұрын
It's true, not all food is 3 times more expensive. What we meant to say was that our overall expenses for groceries went up 3 times comparing to that in UK with buying more or less the same kind of food.🙂 That's how we got to that number in our situation.
