Adam O'Hare here... Thanks for kinda answering my question, felt a bit more personal experience and opinion over hard facts. Haha.

Thank you so much for this interesting video. You mentioned something that I would like to go back to. You said that through knowledge production, we can interact with policymakers. How do you interact with policymakers? How do we inform them about our research? Do they consider our research significant enough to incorporate it within their decisions? Thank you

Hi Haydar! This very much depends on the type of research you do. I am a Behavioural biologist and it saddens me to say that my research probably isn't of much interest to policy makers. But, whenever a new publication comes out, it is heavily promoted (e.g. through social media, press release etc) and targeted towards the people who might be interested in it. That way, your research and data can be used to help the way society runs. Would be a rather depressing world if new science was ignored (don't get me wrong, it very often is).

Can you make a video of how you dissect scientific papers. I've actually read a few of the same ones you did for my graduate research (vision based ones) but found many of them hard to grasp until well into my research. I cannot understand new concepts right of the bat and I think maybe my reading style needs work? Any tips please :) Or even the tools you use would be cool to see.

This is a seriously good suggestion. Thanks Lowzenza! Reading papers efficiently and effectively definitely takes practice. If you don’t understand the core concepts, I’d always refer to your original lecture notes or find some accessible explanatory videos online. Once you’ve got that sorted, you’ll be able to skim read abstracts much more easily. But yes, I’ll explore this in more detail soon!
