Re 3:00: I think I have a culture-based theory as to why Vestoria keeps breaking up, and it has to do with the initial invasion of the Rekolian Horde. Essentially, many of the puppet states that the Horde set up were short-lived, but one (Suria) potentially lasted long enough for Rekolian culture to spread to the western part of the Vestorian region. Throughout history, you can see this area either attempt to be unified by Rekolian descendant nations to the west (Jogalidia), attempt to be unified by Vestorian nations to the east (SeaSide) or break off on its own (Survalsian Vestoria). If cultures are in the game, it would be pretty cool if this were the explanation to Vestoria’s “shatterbelt” status! Also, I found it quite cool in the original video how the Bytos religion managed to spread so far from only being three tribes in the beginning, being sown essentially sea to sea across the entirety of this world’s “Old World”.

So like, how do the battles in this work? I know you said you have dice mechanics, but are they affected by the terrain/unit type/experience/level etc? You know, like would the horseman be very bad against experienced pike man, in full plate armour defending the mountains, kinda like what happens in CK3 or Total War? Are tactics and strategies also a thing? You know, like being able to feint a retreat like William of Normandy in the battle of Hastings, or use and abundance of archers defended by cavalry spikes like Henry V in the battle of Agincourt? Also, are there resources in these maps, some more scarce than others and some only in certain areas? And also money? I’d like to know because it would make naval trading empires a lot more powerful if that were the case. Which is probably my favourite way to play games if I’m not map painting or (in CK3) going full intrigue and killing my friends, their wives, banging said wives and making them raise my child as their “heir”, I enjoy being a little naval boy with lots of spread out islands ruling the sea with bountiful funds I make from trade.

Yes, the battle calculator we made takes into account things like numbers, unit types, terrain, commanders, forts, rivers, army doctrines, etc. Yes, there is a layer that hosts resources, most of which are required to build certain unit types

System we have now has a lot of stuff, as CDLU wrote. We used to have full total war battles in a tabletop sort of setup during season 6 too, but that was too much without literally making a battle simulator game thing. But who knows, maybe one day we'll get exactly that : )

i have made a full world with over 300 nations (with more who can be released ) . the map is bigger than earth and its resolution is 60.000x30.000 and this give inspiration i might do it someday or maybe with you if you wish .in general its part of a big rpg and novels project but i wouldnt mind to have peoples play in it this way as long it help shaping the lore and history and events . i think it can easily resolve this overcrowded population issue you have right now .

I'd also like to ask two question, on my games I usually don't have the luxury of having many players, so I tend to write pages on the outcomes of stuff but then end up sinking a lot of time into that. As your game hosted hundreds of players, how did you guys manage to keep communication brief enough to not be a time sink but also enough to provide them good insight into their country and fulfilling RP? Second question, what advice would you give to a GM that is also running a similar type of game but just cannot find the players to play in the first place Thanks in advance!

95% of the cultures, nations, and religions were completely player-driven. Moderators mainly just interact in the place of non-player entities, (non-player nations, ordinary people, etc). If you want to know about a nation, you have to dig out the information. It can be hard, but otherwise it would be too much to manage at this scale.

@@marcelobabb It can be pretty silly if its for something that is strictly non-gameplay, but for everything that is regulated (resources, wars, alliances, etc) is largely an honors system where everything is public; so if you do try and cheat/be unrealistic, the party you are cheating against, or just about anybody, can usually point that out and then the moderators will punish you..

Hello. Could you by any chance share the game mechanics of Inkunzi or at least a general blueprint of them? Agazaars may help on randomizing the landmass, biome, landscape etc. You need to do the cultural and religion map yourself tho because what they create and edit tools is not good enough.

Not sure if you plan to make another one of these QA at all or not, but I do have a couple other questions. First is did you use terrain types in your map/take them into consideration for the RP? Cause I currently have a a mostly finished map in PS though outside of mountains it doesn't yet have terrain. I wasn't sure if that was something I should add or not. Second question is, are the maps posted anywhere outside of Discord? Cause it would be cool for those who can't get in the server to have a place where we could go and look at the maps and their evolution over time

Could you possibly have an official "fan" server? Not for actual roleplay but so that observers like us can see the progression of countries, read lore and view maps about this world. I absolutely love this. It looks interesting, maybe i should make one... Its a lot of work, but i already have a bunch of people who wants to play. I do have some questions that might help me get an idea for how to go forward. How do you deal with time/investment? Like if i have a port city i want to improve, do i get to improve it? Does it take time to improve it? Do you have a system for expanding the docks and a reason to do so? In case all of these are possible, can you completely ignore it and still grow more powerful? If, and then i really do mean if i create something like this i'd love for it to be really complex, not necessarily for the players because i would probably make a backend system that can take care of minute details regardless of if the player cares about those. However, i want the players to have the option to interfere with every process of kingdom building where a ruler or an important noble is likely to have sway.

How did you simulate population and population growth?

It's based on a few things, up to the map makers: Every Age Population grows. They are represented as Points on a map with 2 tags, Culture and Religion, Both on separate maps with separate colors. Population growth is based on amount of wars in the region, terrain, rivers, and general stability of the region.
