I used to think that I have a skin issue.. I cannot wear certain clothes.. I can't wear jeans, t-shirts with collar, tags, wrinkled shirts.. Can't tolerate heat... I have to put clothes in freezer before wearing them in summers.. I can't drive with an open window I just hate loud people. I hate shaving..face burns so bad it ruins a whole day. I consulted a lot of dermatologists..but no use.. And the worst part...People say that I pretend and make fake excuses for not going out. It just irritates me more.. It's getting worse as I am growing old.. But thanks to you guys..at least now I know that I am not the only one... Hope there is a cure

Just finding this a couple years later. I am a SPD adult....and actually wasn't diagnosed untill I was almost 18! It was a relief to know there was one reason for the many undiagnosed things and weird ticks I had my whole life. When I heard of it I fell down a rabbit hole and just knowing what I have helps tremendously.

I don't know if you guys answer or even read comments on KZbin, but I gotta say I'm so happy I found this channel! My psychologist suggested to me that I have SPD, even though my childhood was mostly contradictory to the fact. Found it hard to find any material about adult SPD. In adult life I've developed extreme anxiety, very high empathy (to an unhealthy level), trouble eating food with certain textures, getting treatments in a hospital (I have a genetic illness - EDS/HMS/IBS), trouble handling heat/cold, lack of thirst, sound sensitivity (I have to eat off of soft plastic because metal against plates/hard plastic makes me nauseous), sensory overload in crowded places due to sound coming from different directions - and other smaller sensitivity issues too. I've always been very emotionally sensitive though and have obsessive thoughts about negative things that can send me spiraling in to a very dark place. I can't follow the news at all without losing sleep or becoming very emotional. I get annoyed and bothered about things very easily. I've always been VERY ticklish, like to the point where I've developed a fear of it. Can't get massaged because if either hurts too much or it tickles, there's no in-between. I've also always been very clumsy, but that could be due to EDS/HMS. I'm obsessive about things, but only in very specific ways. The things that bother me, bother me a LOT and some things not at all. Colors are a good example, as I love playing video games and I can spend a whole day creating a character because I can't get the skin tone perfect. I love being in control and anything that gives me that sense is extremely satisfying. I can't wear a bra or clothes with tags and I have to sleep without clothes. I get up at night a lot to fix wrinkled sheets. Can't sleep with my skin touching other skin (ex. thighs together). I'm wondering if I have SPD and it's been triggered more later in life because I'm in a lot of pain and not sleeping well. Also very stressed because I can't work anymore. Or if it's something else all together... I've been tested for ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder has been discusses as well. Both have been inconclusive, autism spectrum being a bit more likely of the two. Is it possible to start having intrusive symptoms so late in life due to circumstance?

Oh my God. I have never read something that describes how I feel ever. I've been alive for 26 years and I have always felt like such a freak. I can so feel that, I hate wearing bras and underwear and pants I've never understood why, could this be it? I've always had a hard time with touch and sound. Could this be what I have?
