34:24 One thing Assemble got wrong here. Austin Theory did cash in on Seth for the US Title, however he failed to defeat Seth. This was also during a time when Seth Rollins was regularly doing open challenges for his championship. He also did try to cash in on Roman at SummerSlam and Clash at the Castle but got decked both times. It is important to keep in mind this happened after Roman beat Brock to unify both main brands titles so the US Championship was technically Raw's main title.

Yeah Austin was stuck in bad situation. They should’ve had theory try to cash in on Brock / Roman then bloodline get in way. Instead of a failed cash in on U.S. championship

@@strikeromegahe tried to cash in on a midcard title, that he already had in the past, failed, then a month later he won the title without the briefcase. All of this against a champion who constantly issued open challenges, so he didn't need to spend his briefcase to try and win it. That was by far the worst booking to come out of the Triple H era and there's nothing remotely close

LOL, 29:30. Those camera cuts, man. We hated those at the time too. They were always a complaint. Also, I may be an awful person... but when it comes to Money In The Bank cash-ins.... just that look on Jeff Hardy's face, after he'd just had this hellacious Ladder Match with Edge... and then CM Punk's music hit, and it was clear he was cashing in... I LOVED that. But then,I've always been a Punk fan, ever since ROH, so....

I didn't have any wrestling friends either but I actually really liked that. Wrestling was my thing that I got to immerse myself in and didn't have to share it or explain it to other people around me. I did go to WrestleMania 26 with my grandpa and brother (both didn't like wrestling but went for me) and my brother ended up chanting for HBK by the end of it.

As any kid there's no real Ah Ha moment, I see this with my 9 year old nephew the curiosity for the act if Wrestling or fighting is just there. That's what initially got me into watching but when I got older, that's when I understood what was a work and how they were pulling off the moves and what pro wrestling storytelling was.

I thought I'd answer these too as a newer, but also not really newer wrestling fan. Note: I wrote out all of my answers before listening Josh and Matt's answers. 1. What was the "aha moment" where you finally understood what wrestling was? A. I never really had that moment. I've always known I liked wrestling ever since I was a kid. I grew out of it, but later eventually came back into it around 2016. My closest moment was just seeing Undertaker and getting his aura. 2. If you could make one change to any storyline currently, what would it be? A. I don't really have many issues with any of the storylines currently, except one. And that's the Rock and Cody story. They are booking a match towards Rock and Cody to wrestle at some point and it seems likely they're gonna have Rock win the title. I don't want to see that. I'd have Cody drop the title to Randy Orton at Summerslam to avoid Rock winning the title. 3. If you could repackage a talent with a new gimmick what would it be? A. Kairi Sane. Bring back the Pirate Princess and treat her correctly. 4. What is your favorite chant/what chant do you want to bring back? A. I don't remember if they actually chanted this or not. I know it was on a sign, but I really like "You're a wank pheasant." I think they should bring that back or introduce it. It doesn't even have to be on Roman Reigns specifically. 5. What's your opinion on how wrestling has evolved? A. I have gone back and watched some old matches and while some of them were good, I am just not a big fan of the older style of wrestling. Newer wrestling is more fast-paced and and exciting to watch. 6. What is something you miss from the older era of wrestling?/What is something that the modern era does better. A. Wrestling did feel a lot more real back in the day. Like it was an actual fight and not as choreographed. I am also a big fan of titantron movies that felt like a highlight package instead of the wrestler's name on a slightly fitting background. Also fireworks. Newer wrestling does have the best production value. And better wrestling.. of course. 7. What are your opinions on MITB? Do you feel like someone who cashed-in deserves it less than one who won it naturally? A. MITB for the past few years just hasn't felt that important. That changed with Iyo Sky winning in particular. It still needs a lot of work, but over the next few years, I feel like HHH can bring back the aura of the MITB champion. A MITB cash-in may not be as deserved as one who won in naturally, but that's the point. It can allow for anyone of any size or any position on the card to become champion and potentially turn them into a main event star. 8. Biggest difference older fans see vs. biggest different newer fans see. A. I guess I'll answer as a newer fan. I notice the matches felt more real. It looks like every punch, every kick, every slam felt harder. The matches felt like they were an actual match instead of one guy waiting for the other person to jump just to get hit. I appreciate that about older matches and wish newer matches would do their best to hide things like that as much as possible. 9. Why do you love wrestling? A. To me, wrestling is just pure fun. It's fun to watch people (safely) beat each other up. You can connect to the characters. CM Punk is one of my heroes and favorite people of all time. Sami Zayn feels like a friend. Having other people watch wrestling with you and having someone to talk to really helps keep me interested in the show. 10. Longer or shorter title reigns. A. It's funny because back in the Vince days, I wanted longer title reigns. Now that HHH is in charge and there are a ton of long title reigns, I want shorter reigns because I'm tired of long reigns. I want to see people get a chance with the title that often don't get them and there's no way they'd get them if everyone had long reigns. 11. What are some of your favorite PPV/PLE Stages. A. My favorite is TLC when they have all the ladders set up at the stage and around the ring. It really gives a unique flair to it. 12. If you could go back in time and attend a match live, what would it be? A. Iyo Sky vs Bianca Belair at Summerslam 13. Is there a line a heel should not cross? A. To me, there is no line as long as everyone involved is okay with it. Dead relatives, bringing up past substance abuse, go ahead. Just make sure there's consent to bring it up. 14. What advice would have you to new wrestling fans? A. I suppose just enjoy it at your own pace. Find someone who is crazy enough to let you talk to them about wrestling to them and hopefully even crazier to talk to you about it. Don't let anyone's opinions persuade you to stop watching or to not enjoy it how you want to enjoy it. 15. What is your favorite signature move or spot you can never get tired of watching? A. Cop out, but it's highfliers doing a bunch of spinny things. Tiffany Stratton doing cartwheels all over the ring, Ricochet hitting his 720s, or even Keith Lee (a big guy) doing both hurricanranas to Dijak or throwing Adam Cole halfway into the crowd. 16. As an older wrestling fan, what was it like watching with the stigma? A. I have experienced both old and new, so I feel like I can answer as well. I watched wrestling as a kid and wrestling was definitely one of the many things people picked on me for. I felt like that if that was the one thing that was "quirky" about me, then it really wouldn't have been a problem. As I picked wrestling back up in high school, people really didn't care as much. They might've been a little judgmental, but not to my face. I actually had people come up to me and asked me why I liked it. I turned one of my friends into a fan, and even found two more wrestling fan friends in high school.

I've watched some of your content over the last few weeks and its all been great; this video finally forced me to hit that sub button... Neat thing is my fandom is basically right between you two.. I started watching as a young kid in the attitude era until wrestling wasn't "cool" anymore in high school somewhere around 2010. I'd still watch Wrestlemania but fell off really being invested in the product. In college, a few of my buddies started watching the OG NXT and that really got me back into wrestling. We'd spend hours watching classic matches and PPVs on the network... SummerSlam 2016 is the first PLE I remember watching fully in my reintroduction to my wrestling fandom. Oddly, Goldberg's return later that year made me stick around... Since then I've mostly stayed up to date w the product. I don't have the time to watch ALL of the weekly shows and PLEs but following social media allows you to stay up to date without making such a great investment in time.

I was thinking a few nights ago how I think Karrion Kross could really benefit from WWE potentially becoming a bit more violent and a bit bloody. The street fight he was in was the most entertained I have been by the final testament because they actually seemed threatening. I don't want the faction to do a bunch of interference or screwy finishes, I'd like them to be more violent though. Most of all I think making the goals of his character more apparent would help, I feel like every promo or backstage section leaves me thinking "the heck is his problem?"

I wish they would protect finishers more. Only kicking out of finishers at the big shows, and no need to hit your finisher multiple times, unless it means something. No reason Cody should of had to hit his finisher 3-times in a row on Logan Paul. Should be saved for Mania or SummerSlam, with a much more significant opponent.

Current WWE really struggles to vary up things they do, I 100% agree there isn't many cliff hanger endings or "tune in next week" moments. Always seems to end on a match or a promo etc. Old RAW comes across as very unplanned, now its really scripted, which is funny because a lot of old WWE probably was scripted but extremely last minute scripting or on the fly changes

@@Dporticus there was a story in the early 2000s where ddp, who was one of the most popular wrestlers from wcw was debuted stalking the undertakers ex wife lol. A lot of people see it as another example of Vince burying ex wcw stars. It might be fun for you to watch it as a one off video. But I do like your idea

I have a question. Have you ever been to a local promotion to watch some local talents? I go to some ACW (Hornswoggle’s promotion) events when I get the chance. Its also a great way to meet local fans

While the 2010s decade does have a significantly bad reputation because of all of the awful booking decisions there were, it was still extremely good at times. The year I always think to is 2016, which is still highly considered one of the best years of WWE in recent memory due to how consistently good it was. Admittedly, there were more low points than highs, but quite a bit of the good is kinda downplayed because of how much bad there was, if that makes sense lol.

34:30 Austin Theory actually cashed in for the US Title and lost, lol. Not only was it bad that he cashed in on the US Title but he lost too. It really killed his credibility for a while.

And the funny thing is it was a US open challenge, he didn't even had to cash in to get a match.

one thing i would change about current storylines is : i would give Bayley an actual storyline instead of whatever they are doing right now! and i would repackage the final testament/Karrion Kross. they seem kinda menacing but also lose all the time so thats that. they don't seem to be really a threat they should wreck havoc everywhere or something like that, also they are basically Judgement Day 2.0. when they were on SD it was okay-ish but now we have both groups on Raw. then again i like to imagine that it is all part of a bigger picture . Final Testament + Judgement Day = return of the Monday Night Messiah , there to unite us all? (bible studies finally pay off 😛) what i miss about the older eras is the non-pg rating. you can go extreme, but you don't have to all the time. just because there are asshole chants(i miss those too) you don't have to censor the whole audio, children hear worse on the playground either way. and just because there is a drop of blood, the whole screen has to be black and white, i really don't like that stuff. and right now i miss some characters that just do wild/unhinged promos like a ric flair, where you can feel the passion. KO sometimes does just that but most of the time it feels like they are just reading corporate script. and what does modern wrestling do better? i'd say actual in-ring wrestling, more/different moves and styles instead just wwe style. MitB is great if they do a good storyline/cash in. most of the time it is a heel and if they win they automatically have some heat on them to start with. just have to build them up more, unlike Liv in 2022 i stopped following wrestling briefly after mitb 2011 since i didn't have much time, although kept tabs on whats going on and resumed a week or two before brock lesnar made his return in 2012, was quite lucky there. the other time was after punk left in 2014 (coincidence i swear! 🤣) because i was just tired of it and came back for brock vs taker at wrestlemania, after the match was made i started to watch again. i certainly paid for my sin of leaving with watching that hot garbage between 2016 and 2019 🥲. a good mix of long and short title reigns is better imho. and major title changes on tv could really shake things up because they are unexpected and fun (unless you are Kofi Kingston) and i so miss the titantrons and staging overall. we have that giant LED wall and all it is good for is displaying the name of the wrestler 🙃 for me heels can never go too far, as long as they cooperate with the face all is fair. then again there are certain storylines we all wish to forget (Katie Vick anyone? you're welcome for remembering that 😆) all-time signature move? Eddie Guerrero staring right into the camera - you now whats to come. for current i agree on Kaiser. i was quite lucky growing up, there was always a friend and even a whole group around that liked wrestling. and yet that same group looked at me and a friend weirdly when we took out our MTG cards for a quick match in between breaks 🤣

Ppl hate on her but she's real in a world full of gimmick she lives her character. 8 titles multiple wrestle Mania main events. She makes more mone then all women in history. I heard 10 million for 3 years. Mone talks

About women’s wrestling, we’ve come a long long way for sure but sadly there’s still a lot of way to go imo. Look at the comments on any women’s match or clip, you’ll see guys down there saying something to the effect of “cameraman needs a raise” just because there’s a half second shot of someone’s butt, which happens every match but you don’t see those comments on randy orton matches. There’s still a decent and very loud section of fans who still view womens wrestling as a sex appeal side show

To answer the question of can a heel go too far the answer is yes. For the sake of brevity, it was a wrestler in the late 90's named Chaz and they did an angle where his girlfriend accused him of abusing her. They showed her with a black eye one time then a bruised mouth I think. Anyway, NO ONE liked this angle. It was revealed she lied and the whole thing was dropped.

I think a heel goes too far when they start getting political, if their character is a political agenda being portrayed negatively I feel like that's not something I would enjoy. Examples include Muhammad Hassan & Triple H's My Friend Mark promo.
