To the OP. They will never question the theory. They will make modifications to it. The telescope found fully formed galaxies 13 billion light years away (or whatever the beginning of the universe is supposed to have been). Instead of scrapping the theory, they extended the time of the birth of the universe to farther back in time. It reminds me of when they found a species of an animal living that supposedly was extinct for millions of years. Instead of scrapping the theory, they said well, it must have survived for millions of years.

@@therick363 Well, alot of historical science is based upon assumptions, you could say hope or faith or belief or what they say "theories". When the jwst saw that the outer most stars are cool and not seeming to be newly formed, something major has been assumed. Either that our theory about light doesn't add up, for example, light maybe is instant in one way (maybe we see the stars right now in the present, we do not know the speed of light in one way, we have only measured light that is reflected). If that is the case then time is also assumed to be several billions of years while its not, it just seemed like that before jwst:s discoveries which us awesome. Its a new paradigm shift and it demands humility

At universities nowadays people are only there instrumentally already writing papers on same subjects over and over again. Having wrong assumptions that makes the conclusions wrong. I just dont like to waste time living a meaningless life, so personally i believe in God and its not that far away from you either. Logic is also an abstract phenomena like God. The universe is always in flux, stars and galaxies collapse into black holes which form the whole of dark matter. I think the Big Bang Theory, wihich is closely tied to the The Standard Model of Particle Physics which is one of the most proven, reliable models we have in physics , makes sense and actually lines up incredibly well with Genesis 1. Their was a reason that Fred Hoyle, who coined the term "Big Bang "as a derogatory term similiar to your snarky presentation , resisted it. It smacked of creation . The London Times headline when it came out :"The Bible got it right". Seriously, your cringing comment and wincing look when you mentioned Penzias and Wilson winning the Nobel Prize was enough to stop watcihing. Professor, you mentioned the theory as it wat presented when you were doing your Masters. With all due respect, that does appear to be years ago? You mentioned the temperature went from millions of degrees to what is now the temperature of the CMB radiation 3 degrees Kelvin. It is now thought he temperature was 1 or perhaps 2 trillion degrees at quark confinement. You may want to update your slides and talk and think about also incorporating humilty into it.

God not only wrote the bible, He also invented science when He created the universe. The bible provides the starter to do science. See Genesis chapter 1. The fact you can't get oranges from apples is also in the bible: God states the animal version of that, namely that horses produce horses etc.

You know that the Big Bang is just an unfortunate name, right? It wasn't an explosion like a bomb detonating with a bunch of matter flying out from a central point. When what we call the Big Bang model was first proposed by a Catholic priest, some atheists were opposed to the model because it implies the universe had a beginning, which could imply a creator. The Big Bang does not describe the *very beginning* of the observable universe, it only describes what occurred after.. all relevant mathematics and physics, plus direct observations, demonstrate the universe once existed in a hot, dense state then expanded, an expansion that is measurable today, and of course is still ongoing. There's also the cosmic microwave background which lends further support to the model. Is the model perfect? heck no! But so far, at this point in history, it's the most accurate cosmological model we have. The model has not been 'debunked'.

I recommend the Electric Universe (EU) as a model. It ditches general relativity, dark matter and dark energy. Moreover, it explains all phenomena by lab-testable means. See The Thunderbolts Project. I suspect the EU could be made to fit in with the bible, although I am not aware if any of its researchers have attempted that.

Collapsing stars exploding are called Super Novas. That's just one star. The universe has about 1 x 10 to the 24Th stars. That 1 with 24 zeros after it. Imagine all of their mass collapsing towards a center point, and then imagine the kind of explosion that would be. Big bang doesn't begin to describe the heat and the force of the resulting explosion. And all that's required is the force of gravity and a bunch of hydrogen. Hydrogen is a very simple atom; it's one proton and one electron. Every heavier element can be produced by simple natural forces. No miracles required.

If there is a problem, it is the same as with the theory of evolution, there is not a single theory of evolution, many theories exist and they are generally very similar to each other differing in some details. So it is with the big bang theory; some parts of it are still being worked out and apparently no attempt is made, nor can be made, to explain why and how it exploded in the first place. Where he and I differ is that scientific models are updated as new information becomes available. The old models are in their early stages called hypotheses, a fancy word for an educated guess, which is then tested and refined as needed. It is not clear why these details are important.

While it pains me to admit, he is quite correct in his assesement of the lack of “science” in big bang cosmology, and I agree that the accepted “science”will change in the future. The fact that the current leading theory of the universe is full of holes however in no way supports any alternate replacement theory or story. Each theory must rest on it’s own evidence and ability to make testable predictions, and no, a sheepherders book from 2,000 years ago does not constitue sufficient evidence for anything other than that humans liked to tell each other stories.

A righteous society would permit both to be taught and allow people to decide for themselves. But that is not what happens. Instead, the unproven 'big bang' is presented as 'settled science', and sceptics are mocked as 'science deniers'. This deceit is a large part of the problem. Why are evolutionists so afraid of accepting creationism as a legitimate theory worthy of being taught alongside evolution?
