Thanks for the video! Just one question, why did you define the rotational velocity of the blade? Shouldn't it be simulated and determined as a function of the inflow velocity?

Dear Seidel Matheus, Certainly, your observation accurately reflects the actual phenomenon. However, in the realm of CFD analysis, simulating the intricate motion of blades in response to wind velocity poses a considerable challenge. This complexity stems from the multitude of influencing factors, wherein the mass of the blades plays a pivotal role. As a pragmatic approach, the prevailing practice involves assuming a specific velocity and subsequently computing the torque/moment. This methodology is adopted due to its computational feasibility, considering the intricacies involved in capturing the dynamic interactions.

Very good video. I have a question... Why you suppress the blades in the geometry configuration??? ...I thought you may suppress the cylindrical enclosure...since the cylindrical region is to indicate what will be set to a given RPM...
@MechTechSimulations4 ай бұрын
The purpose of suppressing the solid domain is to exclude it from the computation. Generally, we do not want to include solid domains in CFD analysis in most cases like this. Therefore, to remove the solid blade, we suppress it. The cylindrical domain, where the airflow exists, is mandatory for the computation

hey i want to ask during the calculation, there is an error on the execute command: Error: eval: unbound variable Error Object: to ERROR: Invalid pressure Error object: to I'm using ansys 2024 student so is it an error with the different ansys version or is it on my end? Thank you!

does the enclosure handles the add frozen and Boolean subtract itself?
@MechTechSimulations Жыл бұрын
Yes, creating an enclosure will take into consideration the geometry we have before creating the enclosure, whether the geometry is created by adding material or adding frozen elements.

how if I want to simulate the undershot turbine? what do I need to do in order to simulate the blade which in contact with water?
@MechTechSimulations5 ай бұрын
Nothing else, just change the fluid to 'liquid water' under the cell zone conditions.

I’m using solidworks to draw the turbine and then import into ansys. Then I follow ur step to do but can’t. I create the enclosure but it show an error (operation would result in non-manifold bodies).

If I create the cylinder and box through 1) click icon “create” 2) choose icon “primitives” Is this same as enclosure u do in this video?

And also my turbine is not fully immersed in water, can I make an enclosure cover half of the turbine?

But a combination of 3D, Transient and Multiphase is really challenging and needs a heavy computational power.

I am having a floating point exception and the solution stops after 16 iterations. I have a different blade design but I have followed all steps precisely. Could you please provide some help? Thank you.
@MechTechSimulations Жыл бұрын
That is probably due to improper boundary type or boundary conditions. First, perform a steady-state simulation. Then, examine the velocity and pressure plots before proceeding to the transient analysis. Hope this will help you to find the actual problem.

@MechTechSimulations Thank you. I will follow your advice and share the experience.

I had designed my turbine on SOLIDWORKS. I tried to design the geometry on Design Modeler but then I was receiving different errors. Then I reinstalled my windows and then reinstalled ANSYS in my SSD. Then I performed the simulation. It took a very long time ~16 hrs for calculation. In 16 hours, out of 500, 153 time steps were complete, then ANSYS Fluent closed suddenly however, when I opened the solution tab, there were some results there. Then I reduced the time step and no. of iterations. Then the calculation ran smoothly and I got my results. Thank you.@@MechTechSimulations
