Hi sir! Why can't I get stress strain curve? How should I do to get it so that I can compare the simulation result with the graph I got from real experiments?

How to implement Ramberg _Osgood material model in ANSYS WORKBENCH.

This video is very clear. Thank you. A questio: how do you program a rate controled test instead of a force controled test. For example with a stain rate of 0.1 inch/inch? Ansys provides me an error when Idefine the dispacement by a table. Could it be because the material fails before reaching the limit time (which I set to 1s)?

Hi. This stress-strain curve shows the elastic region only. could you make a video on how to get the full stress strain curve of a tensile test using ansys which includes the elastic and plastic region. (the typical stress strain curve beyong yield point). Would really appreciate it. Thank you!
@drdalyo9 жыл бұрын
+hakim jtg This is for a cast iron part, so technically it has a non linear behavior ("plastic"). You could just output equivalent plastic strain and total strain and get your elastic and plastic results from there.

why it shows normalized on y-axis when plotting force vs displacement ? on x axis displacement is chosen but on y axis its shows normalized.

Hi DrDalyO. Could u make a video on how to obtain the stress strain curve of a metal after doing a tensile test simulation on it? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
@drdalyo9 жыл бұрын
+ImJuStoOGoOd Ansys will not give you the stress-strain curve for an unknown material. that is an input for the software. What you could do, as shown in one of my videos, is you can input a curve for the material, and verify the behavior of the results in a stress-strain plot at a given point.

Hi, Your tutorials are really helpful. Currently I encountered with a problem. I am modeling a cold rolling process in Workbench(nonlinear,transiet) with 100time steps.I want normal stresses on all the nodes in contact at a certain time stem(lets say at 50).How can I do that? Can you make a tutorial on how to get results w.r.t time steps using Command line...

Your video is very helpful. How would I incorporate a strain rate? Also, is the applied force I input solely based on the safety factor?

Hi, Thanks for your explanations. Can you show how can I measure rotation between two part in workbench. If you have some video about it, please give me the link for it. Bests.
@drdalyo9 жыл бұрын
What exactly do you mean by measure rotation? You can get displacement, and i guess rotation but you would have to change your coordinate system to cylindrical

Hi DrdalyO. Could you do a similar video but with other materials? It is very difficult to understand how to use the APDL command coding. Appreciate it. Thank you.

+hakim jtg yes, please check out the non-linear materials library for a list of default nonlinear materials. this will be in engineering data.

if not in engineering data. you can explain step by step this tutorial when feeding data in commands by the APDL command coding

Hi there, thank you for all the tutorial videos. I was wondering if it is possible to get a directional strain result in ansys workbench. So for example i have a 3D part that i've applied a load onto it. However i am trying to get the strain values on one of the body in the x and y axis. please let me know if this is possible. any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello Dr Daly, thanks for the helpful videos. I have a question about this particular video, is it possible to display in a chart the stress variation of one single element, even if this element is not asociated with a edge, or face itself? my problem is that I have a stress distribution along a cilinder, so basically there are no edges or lines that i can use to select this one single element. thanks!
@julio7518 жыл бұрын
to be more specific, I have a hollow cilinder (a pipe), and I need to measure the stress in 3 different points i.e. 3 single elements, which are located on the external surface of the pipe, any clue how to do it in a chart as u did it on the video for the line of elements? thank u :)

Hello sir,In this video material's stress strain curve was know to us from standard data so that force value we can predict ..but i am facing issue with unknown material..I have properties values like E,Poisson's ratio,Yield strength,Tangent modulus.......know i want stress strain curve behavior through plots ...how can we do that ? if out of 4 properties tangent modulus we have to vary randomly to converge solution ...how to predict force limit?..pls help me out
@drdalyo9 жыл бұрын
+sagar sadatia not sure what you mean exactly. but with the youngs modulus, yield strength and tangent modulus, you could draw a bilinear stress-strain curve and use that in the solver. which means you only have two data points really (3 including the zero, zero point). Which is also fine to use for analysis.
@sagarsadatia0079 жыл бұрын
+DrDalyO Thank you for your reply sir ... i'll tell you the problem in detail i have properties like E=100 Mpa poission's ratio=0.25 , yield strength = 10 Mpa and tangent modulus we'll assume to 2 Mpa to make material bi linear plastic ..now this things i have given as a input but still it showing some converge criteria ..i have tried with diff values of load steps and with diff solver also.. i am not able detect my mistake. .. this material's stress strain curve i wanted....Sir pls help me this is very important phenomena for me ...Thank you
@drdalyo9 жыл бұрын
+sagar sadatia Again, im sorry but I dont understand you completely. With these values you already have your stress strain curve. Just go into the Engineering Data, add a bilinear isotropic hardening property from the toolbox, and enter these values. The material in your analysis will then follow these properties. Hope this helps.

i have on question in my problem i got my seafty factor around 0(red color) is it ok ...?
@drdalyo7 жыл бұрын
+akash patel A safety factor of 1 is the minimum. Anything less than that and the material will fail. Generally speaking you want a safety factor of 4 or more i believe for this material. Please watch the video again
