Is von- Mises stress represents the ultimate load of element? Why von Mises stress is important? Kindly clarify.

Stress tensor is decomposed into two components i.e hydrostatic and deviatoric, hydrostatic part does'nt play any role in the distortion of the component so we will consider only deviatoric tentor, In this only 2 Invariants were acting(2nd & 3rd) where von mises stress totally depends on the 2nd deviatoric Invariant
