I just wonder how veneers will stand up to the very high constant humidity

Wth a lifetime spent as a carpenter, I can tell you that epoxy laminated products i.e.: wood veneers, cutting boards, paddles, structural glue-lam beams, even wooden boats themselves that have been laminated are far more stable than solid wood in a wet or humid environment.
