Also , I see operators using these setting up their multi•antenna competition vehicles , like a Chevy Suburban for example . They key the mic and lock it then walk a circle around the vehicle to make sure the most signal is directed towards the front , or side or whatever direction they want to concentrate the signal

I am glad I didn't do that video for nothing 😂. I had one of those since the 90's and never thought about it till a couple months ago haha. 73.

I guess it does, Maybe if someone is building an antenna can use it to see antenna field direction etc. It was kind of fun to see the field. I bet there is more info out there about how people use those field meters and for what reason. 73

I have recent video on how to build a really easy LED RF meter with cheap parts & it's so simple. You should build one, it is more sensitive than the one you have at the moment too. Keep up the great work mate ⚡🙏⚡

It is an RF field strength meter when you use the antenna. It is not a magnetic field meter yet simply a small element to detect an electric & magnetic field from a radiated signal. When we send a signal it has two components. One is the magnetic field component and the other is the electric field component . Your meter would not detect any steady magnetic field nor would it detect any steady electric field. it only detects changing fields which is what we call EM Fields. I like your video my friend 🙏 I am also an experimental Ham and CB Guy. Keep up the good work and feel free to look at my lame videos too. 73 from Crazy Ham 🙏💡🙏 .

Thanks for the comment. Like they say live and learn 😄. I am sure more people will learn about this extra tool in this cheap swr meter. I couldn't find any info so I posted that video. Thanks for explanation 👍. 73

What does the magnetic field strength tell you? Does it show the direction of antenna resonance? More magnetism in front of a beam antenna? If so, doesn't the design of the antenna tell you as much without the meter?

The reason the field of strength is much stronger in that particular area is because if you notice , when the needle moves at it’s furthest point to the right , is when the 2nd antenna is directly at the noon position behind the meter . The 2nd antenna is acting as a reflector , or a “back door” just like a horizontal Yagi multi-element antenna . It is making your vertical ground•plane omnidirectional antenna behave like a directional antenna . The 2nd antenna in view is acting as a back door reflecting the signal directly back towards the source I hope this helps . 73’s and Happy 4th of July 347 👋🏻

Thanks for the explanation. Now when I think about that something tells me that antennas should be at least full wave length away from each other. Didn't think that they will react to each other when one is only in operation and the other is not. 👍
@Dallas-Rife-UDX-347-Tennessee Жыл бұрын
@@myszaca Yeah , they definitely will “react” with a live antenna even if the other antenna has nothing hooked up to it (coax) 73’s
