I find the jpc a really comfortable and versatile antenna, I use it a lot combined with a 560 cm telescopic whip that allows me not to use the coil for the high bands and use it only for 40 meters. I like it so much that I also purchased the dipole version that I use a lot even from the terrace of the house with good results!

Great as always Ian, I know we both had a very chilled out day with good company and some great kit to experiment with.

thanks for that, both work great with a small footprint. i have the jpc-12 and will use it and find a link dipole works great. of course it will its full size non compromise. ! looking to mount the jpc-12 on my 7'' magmount on the car and playing with an adaptor to do this really for the height!

That result was just how I expected it to be on local inter g & Europe contacts, A center loaded vertical radiates like a 5/8 wave out to the horizon, Where the Slidewinder will shine is on DX Contacts, Because the Slidewinder is a ground mounted 1/4 wave that radiates at a low angle take off, Good to see it held it's own against a center loaded vertical on local/ european contacts.

Great comment. I agree but DX was hard to come by on the day. 20m was very short (I could clearly hear stations in the south of England). Brian did work a Belgian station but that was as far as we got. That said, I have worked Stateside on both aerials on CW and SSB when activating POTA. Ian

Great comparison. I wonder what it would be like using the sectional antenna for the slidewinder? It could also be centre mounted

Difficult to do unfortunately as the JPC12 is not 3/8 thread. That said, on the tripod and with the extension mast on, it does lift the feed point and the coil considerably. Ian
