This tuner minimizes the VSWR between the transmitter & the tuner- it does not reduce or change the VSWR in the feed line to the antenna, that is done by matching the feed line impedance at the antenna end of feed line. Many antennas have a matching network to couple the feed line to the antenna. A poor antenna & feed line is not improved with the tuner only power transfer is maximized - this works for receive and transmit - using impedance matching is always useful for maximum power transfer.

I just gave a class on building the MFJ-941EK antenna tuner and the first two parts of my personal build are on line. I'm still working on the editing of the Part 3 video. The 941 is the same tuner less the transistor and a few other parts for the peak reading function. But the same board is used. So on another 941 I'm going to make a video on adding the peak reading parts to turn it into a 949. Thanks for your great videos! 73 Jimmy, ARRL TS, WX9DX

I have the MFJ-949E tuner, its a very good quality make and works well indeed. One of the better items I have bought for my Amateur Radio work.

It is a good tuner. I can use it to tune a T2LT antenna for the 11 meter band, to work on 10, 12, 15 and 17 meters band, and on a part of the 20 meters band. Does the job with the poor antenna.

Part # 3 is on line of the 941EK antenna tuner and again is the same tuner without the peak reading parts. So if someone wants a tuner like this that you can build the MFJ941EK is a deal. Thanks for your video...

Before you buy junk like this for more than $40... take a look inside a high quality manual tuner made by heathkit, yaessu, or kemwood. Divide rated power of MFJ by 3 to 5 ..and that is what the components and wires sizes should be spec'd for. You can buy a true 500 watt rated tuner used for less than new cost of this stuff.
