I love her emotional, deep voice. It didn't deserve to finish in last place but I do agree with the comment which mentions the backing singers speaking actually ruined it. I couldn't fault Celia's voice though because she didn't go off-key once.

For me that win, is a tribute for all those Portuguese singers (some already dead) who tried to use the Eurovision platform to get recognition and successful careers in music, unfortunately not all of them succeed, but at least most of them got the experience that certainly they never forget.

Unlike the Norwegian entry, Portugal's 0 points were totally uncalled for. "Antes do Adeus" is very calm and serene, and so gripping. There was not a bum note in Celia Lawson's performance either. Truly a non-deserving duck egg.

This is a good song and deserved a lot more than nul points. Celia Lawson has a good voice and sense of interpretation, but perhaps the spoken backing was repeated too many times? Maybe once at the beginning and then sung backing till the end. Portugal has sent some really beautiful songs to the contest over the years.

Fue un año muy muy difícil, muy competitivo, uno de los mejores festivales que se recuerdan. He oído la versión en inglés y me pregunto qué habría pasado si la hubieran llevado. Gran voz, presencia, tema super original con letra de la gran Rosa Lobato de Faría y música de Thilo Krassman.. Close your eyes and feel one of the best entries of 1997.. 1997 was not the best ESC year. This song was, believe it or not, my favourite, and I was shocked, that she did finish last. Just heard it again and yes, I really love her voice, I still like the song and her performance was very suitable and confident. Why she did not earn a at least a single point? ESC seems to be about higher mathematics...
