the word used in the lyrics simply means map-case, or maybe a clipboard. so, the star maps are inserted into map-cases/affixed to the clipboards. recently the word came to mean a tablet computer, hence the mistranslation. far from prophetic, the line is actually kinda quaint, in a good way (like those futuristic postcards from around the turn of the century depicting people wearing the fashion of the day in the 2000's.) the "Soviet mobile" is the LK-1, built by one Leonid Kupriyanovich. It wasn't a cellphone proper, more like a long-range radio telephone, i.e. two-way radio with a portable set and a base station that could dial into the phone network.

Leaving ideologies to the side. It really is a powerful song and it fits just the level of achievement that it was putting a man in space for the first time. We started as caveman and we ended up breaking the barrier to the stars. It's really amazing what we've been able to achieve.

We are yet to achieve big things. Before that, though, international relations need to be normalized and only get better and better. Because, fear of conflict will forever haunt us like a snake; among many other things. After that, we are to normalize global clinate and revolutionize the thinking of people's around the world. We don't need to wait to do all of that, we only need ambition to do it which would be present worldwide and stick inside the minds of bilions of people - just like we have managed to stick many other things inside. People need to look forward and be able to do so. Only this path can lead us to a peaceful arrival of our great presence on other objects in our own system, after which; if the human developement goes beyond what we have ever known and beyond we thought it can; we can explore and colonize many others stars and their respective systems. It's a game which would never end, and which would be in favour of longetivity which needs to be present in a long history that is yet to come.

Hello to all! I'm Russian, and I want to clarify. Firstly, this is not the hymn of the Soviet space program. The anthem of the Russian space program since 2009 is a completely different song. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grass_by_the_Home. Before - no any anthem for space program. Secondly, to call a hymn a song only because it is sincere close and popular to people - is wrong. Otherwise, we'll have to name the song "Was wollen wir trinken" anthem of the tableful Thirdly, the song in the video is really an incredibly popular song. This song absorbed all the dreams and hopes of Soviet people about future. But at the same time it is not attached to the nation, it's really a song of Earthlings, not Russians or Americans. Such a sense of self, really characteristic of Soviet culture - the feeling of being citizens of the whole world.

I just wanted to write something funny about the dangers of space and extra thick Uschankas, but then the lonyness and coldness of space came to my mind and the grief of the world tumbled down on me and I became aware of the hopelessness of our little blue rock in the rternal nothingness.

By the way, the Chinese have already adapted a large number of Soviet songs to translate them into Chinese. America is lagging behind in this, apparently considering the translation and adaptation of Soviet songs into English beneath its dignity.
