Pretty sure you got confused of what he’s trying to say. He meant that Anthoney tapped the notes that doesn’t come up, but because of that it doesn’t decrease the score because there is not a note there. A lot of great maimai players do this to keep in time with the rhythm. I also do it sometimes when I finish a hard part and there is a pause. Like in the new chart of the Oshama Scramble, there will be a spin in the middle section when the PV shows みるく turning into a big cat, and after I finish that, I will tap the buttons on time with the beat to keep me in time for the next part. Pretty complicated reply, eh?

Not really complicated, but yes, that is accurate. Most people don’t use this technique though, quite a lot experts use it. It really helps if you don’t want to remember the rhythm in your head but instead “tap” it out.
