I’ve been saying this for a couple years, it’s sad because AD probably should’ve won the last two DPOY awards but the team can never put together a good season. They expect him to average 30 while he is literally carrying them every single night on defense. Darvin is horrible, I’ve hardly seen him run a single play for AD all season long. Dennis the menace and Jared Vanderbilt are some of the only guys who’ve even helped AD on defense in recent memory.

Of course Lebron is great and I even like Dlo lately, but if you watch a game like the last time they played the warriors where AD had to sit after the first few quarters, it is clear to see his impact is far bigger than Lebrons at the moment because they instantly couldn’t defend. But on the other hand, recently, the Lakers didn’t have Lebron against the bucks and won in double OT with Reaves and Russell both dropping 29 and Davis out performing Giannas they beat the bucks without Lebron before that too with Dlo scoring 44. The lakers have other scorers than Lebron (obviously they aren’t as good or consistent but they are still good options on any team) but they don’t have defenders like Davis that can also score and rebound so well and that’s why he is so Valuable. That’s why I find it absurd why anyone would expect Davis who changes the entire dynamic of the game with his defense to such a high standard on the offensive side. He has his hands full cleaning up Lebron, Reaves, and DLos lazy defensive mistakes.

No player I have seen has his impact on defense. They instantly folded against the warriors when he sat out. Lakers fans are critiquing their best Defender for not dropping 30 a night when they have 3 other legitimate scoring options acting like cones on defense. Davis is a good scorer but he doesn’t have it every night I wouldn’t either if I was the only one expected to consistently show up on defense

AD is singlehandedly the best defender on the planet and has been the last 2 years. Guys look good when they have good defenders around them and look much worse when they have mediocre to bad defenders around them (i.e. Gobert in Utah during the playoffs his defensive presence would fall off a cliff since he had bad defenders around him consistently and look at him now). There is no defender in the league with more of a burden to carry than Anthony Davis. He will probably never win a DPOY and its criminal but he is arguably a top 10 defender of all time right now and when its all said and done he will be top 10 defensively.
