He's young enough to never have experience MJ's era at all, so I don't think he really feels the same pressure that guys like LeBron and every other "next Jordan" in the past felt. These young guys are very detached from the Jordan era, which is for the better in some cases. They're not going to feel a need to chase Jordan as much when he's been a retiree their whole life, and not many young ballers are going to watch hours of a bunch of grainy old clips of Jordan either, they probably check the clips out of curiosity and assume Jordan's the GOAT but don't really connect to him at all

I was watching this video and I was enjoying the highlights but then the video personality stated one of the most insane comments "He's actually better than Jordan!". No sir, no shooting guard of the future will be better than Michael Jordan. He has set the bar too high with making a career of earning three points the hard way with patented reverse wrist flick lay-ups (Which is a stat and hasn't even been calculated yet.), the amount he achieved in the little time span he achieved it in, and the way the teams played defense in that day with the reinforced edge of their personalities. The psyche in that era is more assertive with a threat of violence so the physical toughness is full on contact to reinforce the psychological health of the athlete, increase contact, and condition the anatomy for more contact. This is why 90' era athletes and early 2000' era athletes are predominately more chiseled than star athletes such as Nikola Jokic or Luka Doncic in contrast to Brent Barry, Wally Szerbiak, Rik Smits, or Vlade Divac. This is exactly what Anthony Edwards is explaining as todays NBA athlete is allowed to sit out games and become unconditioned to the contact sport while making his body psychologically weaker thereby affecting the physical. Kevin Durant is widely known for not lifting weights throughout his career, however, in the 90's to early 2000' it was a mandatory action being enforced by the league because their bodies were continuing to need conditioning as competition was becoming more competitive. In the 90's you wouldn't see players such as Kevin Durant survive an entire career because his body would'nt have been capable of creating the tolerance needed to withstand full on court physical contact such as hand checking where the defender has more leverage as to where the offensive player can and can not go and the brunt of the dominant Power Forwards and Centers who were not "Stretch" positions. Hence, the reason you have the rule change to get away from hand checking and allow the less physically dominant proceed to play "Hero" shot ball, when in the 90' era and early 2000's every team member had a moment where he or she could be the game hero, and every team member touched the ball each play before proceeding to shoot (Basketball 101). When in doubt get back to the fundamentals for the success of the sport.😎

@rudybutler1697 That's subjective. But I will debate that Scottie Pippen is a better defensive option while at the same time leaving space in his game to score at a consistent rate of speed. Scottie had a great mid-range bank shot. However, Larry "Legend" Bird is a more accurate scorer and does surprised the offense while he's on defense. Larry Bird does have the height advantage though. But Scottie "Scott Pop!" Pippen is a stone cold killer on defense.😎

Having amazing one-off games is getting less impressive in the modern NBA, it only takes a guy getting hot from 3 and they have a historic game. Because of the 3 ball, the variance in shooting is higher nowadays. We're seeing higher highs, and lower lows. Also, the guy feels nothing like MJ. I don't know why you mention the 90's, because this smiling, giggling Gen-Z atmosphere he embraces is nothing like what the 90's was like. Finally, he's just not as talented as MJ is. Doesn't have the skill, or the tools. This needs to be brought up because we all know of MJ as the GOAT, even in his early 20's before winning, he looked like a total freak. He also loved to put on a show - took pride in things like the dunk contest, while Ant wants nothing to do with it.

The thing that still seperates Jordan and keep him in relevant conversations of goat etc is his accomplishments. Which Ant does kot have, so I wouldn’t compare him to Jordan anymore than I would other players in the league. Now it just so happens that I am one of those who are more skeptical of jordan ls era and his accomplishments and I like to focus on those players game and bag more so than they team accomplishments and awards, so I am more prone to compare lots of players to jordan myself. @dreskee84224 ай бұрын
@brucebanner6147 If there's any shooting guard being compared to Michael Jordan, than that shooting guard is being done a disservice because the expectations for his or her stat line and winning streak is too absurd to fathom. Executing a Three Peat at will two times during an NBA career without behind the scenes cheating of the game is too difficult for any future athlete. This is why no one in their logical state of thought should expect all of Michael Jordan' records to be broken by another Shooting Guard of the future. And when you account for the fact that he had Scottie Pippen on his team as another weapon, you can begin to acknowledge the fact that the bar is set too high for the future to achieve the same standard.😎
