I know this video is about Ant, but glossing over Jaden McDaniels as an after thought makes me really sad. He too was drafted with Ant in 2020-2021. And maybe he should have made NBA all defensive team? I'd go back to the win vs Dallas, where Jaden and Ant locked down Luka and Kyrie at the end of a close game last year. Those are two 21 year olds locking down All NBA players... Many could and did argue Jaden was robbed of an NBA All Defensive team last year. If you are into minutia - there is a video of post game vs. Memphis when they lost in the playoffs 2 years ago. Ant is with Jaden. Ant giving Jaden huge credit. But the tiny thing is what he says they're all gonna do. They're all gonna go home, work on their game and come back and be better. Fast forward to this year. 2 things. In the win vs OKC, he brought NAW on with him post game, and game NAW huge credit. Now to the small detail. After the loss vs. Denver.. They did not all go home and work on their game. Ant and many of the wolves, have been here in MN working together. That includes, KAT, Rudy, Jaden, Naz Josh and many others... This is new. This is evolution and taking leadership and ownership. My point about Ant bringing his teammates up and giving them huge credit to me, shows he's authentic. He means it and loves his teammates and wants them to succeed and get credit. It doesn't come off as phony he really cares for his teammates. He's even giving interviews telling management to bring back Austin Rivers. That was just taken at summer league where he was there cheering on the wolves summer league squad. This is what a leader does. This is what an authentic person does to show he cares for his teammates and their success. And that is what will make Ant great.

Well I wasn’t intentionally glossing over McDaniels at any point, I did mention him as part of the group that the Timberwolves should have him as part of their main core for the future. I agree he’s a great player to build on for them

well they're equally talented and Anthony Edwards knows that, at one point, he said no one even knows how good Jaden McDaniels is and that was a season or two ago... I want them to trade Karl-Anthony Towns so that Edwards and McDaniels split the scoring duties, McDaniels can do it.. Reid can do it too
@RJLKMRD

I agree that from the standpoint of players really working together as a team, we've never really been into better point, despite the abhorrent general management
@blownapart100
@blownapart100 Жыл бұрын
@@RJLKMRD I like that idea. The problem is, Jaden is often asked to guard the opposing teams best player. At the 2,3,4. Having him pick up scoring duties, might over extend what he brings to the defensive end. Coach Finch recently, within the last week elaborated on that saying Ant would like to guard top opposing players more often but they need him on offense a bit more. So there is a balancing act between those two. However, if you look at the trends, Jaden is taking it to the rim more, and finishing more. He's improved his shooting enough not to be completely left alone. Jaden needs to cut down on fouls. Be a better shooter. And then I can see plays being run for him. Featuring him in the offense a bit more. As it stands, he's not. They don't run offense through him. He plays off plays so to speak. And it's tantalizing to think what if they did? I'm not against it. I just don't think right now, in the current atmosphere of the West and the NBA in general, that the Wolves could go deep or win a title without Towns.. right now. With Towns, I do, for now. As awkward as things looked last year, there were enough pointers for me to say, if x y and z fall into place next year, and these guys are really working on their craft with one another over this summer? Get ready for some fun basketball!

I believe Ant is the next player we will rank at the top in the game in the next couple of seasons. Within two more seasons he could be a top 2 or 3 player in the NBA today, maybe even the top player in today’s game. He has so much potential, he’s not even in his prime yet. I see so much MJ in his game. Even traces of Kobe and T-Mac at times. A little bit of Dominique too. I believe he will be the next MJ. He’s that good

Two things can be true at the same time, Anthony Edwards is an excellent player so is Lamelo Ball, Ant has played with multiple all-stars including 2 time Defensive player of the Year in Rudy gobert. He has help yet everytime ant and melo go head to head Lamelo get the best of him check the states either way, the Hornets getting the #2 pick in the draft and Miles Bridges back will help level the playing field in terms of talent in the years to come. Both are future superstars of their class.

@@Judah_rising.official I'm actually using statmuse for the stats. And... You're statement is wrong. Or, perhaps mis worded. Because in Ant's career, he has faced the Hornets 6 times. Resulting in a 2-4 record. So, Mello hasn't won all of them. In fact, Mello didn't play in but 5 of those contests. More over, Ant out scored mello in every match up but 1, the last one where Ant has almost an equally impressive night. So, I don't think this statement is quite right on that part. But I think more important, is that Ant has been in the playoffs the last 2 seasons. Charlotte has missed the last 5 years. And Health wise... Ant is leading there too. I'm not saying Mello is bad.. no way. But I think you might be under evaluating Ant by saying mello has got the best of him or the wolves.. it doesn't show that in the stats.

@@blownapart100 You're saying head to head I made the point that Anthony Edwards had better teammates than lamelo ball I'm talking about a play for player comparison in the games they played against each other. Regardless he's underrated, I am not speaking my opinion as though it's a fact, that's just my take on it.

decent analysis but horrible takes about KAT and Gobert. KAT is still an All-NBA player, he was hurt for 53 games. It takes time to create chemistry, he was thrown into late season off a major injury. Gobert will be much improved next season. and Naz Reid is NOT a starting level Center due to his horrible defense. His best role is a backup rotational 5 and works great against smaller lineups.
@hoophierarchy
@hoophierarchy Жыл бұрын
There certainly is no reason to keep both. 2 center lineups rarely work in the NBA, we’ve seen similar situations before. The argument can be made that one of Gobert or KAT should be kept, but keeping both is a bad decision imo

@@hoophierarchy Bruce brown still said wolves were toughest team they faced on the Nuggets champ run. Tatum harden are also all chokers in the clutch, kd has also many turnovers late season n playoffs. Toughest without jaden or naz. W gobert n kat playing a highly experimental 2 big line up w little run together. I mean I never tht a non defensive center like jokic cld work for a champ run either. N yrs ago I never tht centers cld be small like today and win chips. So let's see them work it after summer practice and some run. We will clear by December. Finch thinks it can work.
