At 33:40 the announcer says Anthony will attempt a feat never performed by anyone else on stage, to juggle 7 clubs. Surely 7 had been done by then?

yes, the schtick is all part of the act, like when a juggler fails the trick the first two times and then gets it right on the third try. that brings the house down. the real trick is to leave the audience not knowing the difference between trick and folly. w.c. fields was a master at that. check him out in "the great mcgonicle"

I'm aware of what it means (you're simply restating it) but it's not true. I did a bit of research and Gatto was more like the 10th person to do it, and that's just the ones we have record of.

In the early 70s I saw in Basel (Switzerland) at Clara Variete the Czech juggler Jack Bremlov doing live 7 clubs. Of course there were only about 10 throws but at the end he catched them all.

Mark Steiger If it was only 10 catches then it wasn’t 7 club juggling. I do believe that Gatto may have been the first to juggle 7 clubs on stage.
