@@user-bj2lu9qt3o Oh yes. I would say the. only flaw in his acting is he can be too precise, too in his head. I’ve read a lot about him. He has been my favorite actor since I was eleven. He was already gone when I began to watch him. His movies helped me when I was in rough places. I understand some the darkness entwined into his personality. When I read about Perkins’ mother… let’s just say I related on some level But I love watching his gears work when he’s on game shows and his competitiveness.

its interesting, i would agree with anyone any day to defend him against a media pawn, but mike wallace actually doesnt seem to be one. hes asking questions pretty straight-forewardly and although some of them just seem painful and mean, i feel like its good to get questions like that over and done with just so people can know. i do agree he should have approached them differently, though. but then tony may be less honest by feeling more obliged to say things that wouldnt seem odd rather than being almost defiantly honest.

Why did Mike Wallace find it appropriate to interrogate a twenty-six-year-old actor as if he was running for political office? Ridiculous! Anthony Perkins handled himself so well, and his intelligence is obvious. Tony has the graciousness that Wallace lacks. I think it's unfortunate that Tony, a talented and cultivated individual, had to endure this treatment. If Twitter had existed back then, I'm sure Wallace would have been harshly criticized for the way he conducted himself.

Right up there with Brando, Sheen, and Walken as the greatest actors of all time! If Perkins had never made another movie for the res tof his life, his sensational performance as Norman Bates sealed his legacy as one of the all-time great actors. He should have been one of the biggest stars of the 1960's but then he basically disappeared from the scene after Psycho making films in Europe.

The presentation set up is so... strange, now, partly because there’s a kind of honesty going on here. And, while Perkins seems to be interrogated by Wallace, he also seems to quite understand what it’s all about. Nowadays, the ‘Chat Show’ acts as a shop-window for the equivalent of a fast-food franchise. Nevertheless, Perkins comes across as thoughtful and on-the-ball ... though there is a curious segment that starts with a question about the “Beat Generation” & ‘responsibility’ or not that leaves one wondering. And then there’s the final question, “What does..... “. Really, quite interesting. Subbing.

i really really agree with you. no one else seems to understand or notice this odd honesty. its like by simply asking the questions in a rough manner you are inadvertently forcing anthony perkins to launch into a more genuine discussion, where to keep up with whats going on, he wouldnt be able to fake an opinion in time. it is mean, but at the same time it must be refreshing for both of them in a way. anthony perkins seems like such a beautiful person.

Anthony Perkins will always be THE Norman Bates, but it would have been interesting had he lived to have seen what James Dean might have done with the role. He was the right age and he had the brooding and the edginess.

Loved James Dean, saw all 3 of his movies, he was great in all of them. Don't see him in Psycho though, but then when an actor is really good in a movie, he becomes that person, and it gets hard to see anyone else in that role. I loved Montgomery Clift in "From here to Eternity", heard that Aldo Ray was considered for that role, would never have worked. Clift was Prewitt, like Perkins, he was dark, brooding and gorgeous. Had a cross on both of them in my youth, both were also bisexual.

Unfortunately, Perkins was not to inherit the mantle of Gable or Steward or Cooper. "Psycho" was his high watermark and it was downhill after that. Virtually all his movies in the 60s were made in Europe and are pretty much forgotten.

Weinberg had taken me to see `The Two of Us` and then we went for a meal (Chinese) Perkins was waiting..tall, lithe, slithering up or down a tree in front of the theatre. Weinberg snubbed him. Why? Then over supper he was `Oh, Claude Chabrol will be in town next week. I want you to meet him.` I was not interested in Chabrol. DAMN!! I still say DAMN. Let me said something Danielle..when you are part of a time frame, a certain period you do not objectify yourself and your behaviour. It always amuses me having lived for as long as I have that everything I did and knew as everyday has now taken on strange historical significance. Weird! All best wishes, Sandra

@@alexandraponce8081 Almost lucky TWICE. This time 1967 or 1968 the year `The Two of Us` with Michel Simon was released. Head of Paramount pr Michael Weinberg (killed with 6 other Hollywood Jewish film executives in a car accident in Europe in the early Seventies) had probably arranged for Perkins to be waiting for us as we exited the cinema. Weinberg had invited me to the screening and for a meal after. He was tall and lithe. Leaning against a tree he almost seemed to be slithering up. STill divine. Attractive, lean, nervous.....Anyway when he saw us he started to make his way over but Weinberg did a detour..a complete about-face. As I did not know Perkins had intended to tag along I could not have queried Weinberg about it. At the restaurant he said and I did not understand it at the time `Claude Chabrol is coming to town next week. I want you to meet him`. Well I did not want to meet Chabrol. I would have liked to have met Perkins. and did not realize Weinberg had queered the meeting and was offering a substitute.

One of the worst interviews I have ever seen. Perkins is much too articulate and self aware for the critical sensationalistic smoking Wallace. To add, at one point Wallace asks him about what qualities stand out in him, Perkins should of said: I have great tolerance for stupid questions like the ones you are asking me!

Just as well he didn't answer about being the works no.1 film star but seemed pleased almost ecstatic that he was being asked. Unfortunately he became typecast and took those roles because they paid well and that's what actors do. They go for the big money, people can disagree all they like but they're just fooling themselves, He'd have been offered many low budget film roles but would have turned them down even if he liked the script. Hell let's be honest he wouldn't of even been interested in reading a script unless a big paycheck was at the end of it, that's how it works. Anyway he never really became anywhere near as well known as a lot of his peers
